![Ash vs Evil Dead - Season 1 [DVD] [2016]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51F+gfzR4iL.jpg)

Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip. Review: Bruce Almighty is Back with Chainsaw and Chin and Ready to Rumble! - What a wonderful series ... good, suitably gory fx, always carried off with gusto and darkly comedic timing. An ideal vehicle for the living legend that is Bruce Campbell. Honestly, I can't understand why BC isn't perpetually on our screens in lead roles. He really is one of the most entertaining actors of recent decades and seems like a damned (?) nice guy too. If you haven't seen it, you should really check out his gloriously OTT series from 2000, Jack of All Trades. It's outrageously camp and really quite wonderful. Back to Ash though, and Bruce has stirling support here from fellow cast regulars who include Xena herself. Yes, the divine Lucy Lawless is teamed up once again with her occasional sparring partner from her days as a Warrior Princess, though here she plays a villain (or does she?). Other cast regulars more than pull their weight, but really it's Bruce's show all the way and he grabs the opportunity to do what he does best ... hack off heads with a chainsaw stuck on his wrist stump, a leather corset holding in his beer gut and copious lashings of black hair dye. Love it, love it, love it! Gimme MORE!!! Oh, and for those who care about such things, there's a pretty decent plot line going on which I shan't tell you about, not wishing to be a spoiler. The magic in it is also surprisingly decently handled. Someone clearly did their research properly for a change and kudos to whoever it was. A genuinely great show, and a great showcase for the Chin. And it gets better: season 2 is already out there in the world, and season 3 is also happening. Woohoo! Grab your chainsaws, boys and girls, it's gonna be a Hell of a ride! Review: To say I was overjoyed at this series is an understatement - To say I was overjoyed at this series is an understatement. As a huge fan of the Evil Dead film franchise & Bruce Campbell for years had been calling for a sequel to Army of Darkness, or dare I say it, a TV series perhaps? Was both wishes answered? Hell yeah! Got the series, watched it, and holy cow loved every second. We find Ash working 9 to 5 in a dead-end (or more apt Deadite) job. He's browbeaten by his boss working in a hardware store in- between getting some wood, and yes that was meant the way intended. Basically he's a beer swilling spliff smoking womaniser, who's cross between Al Bundy & Dirty Harry living in a trailer-park. We first see Ash in a compromising position with a lady friend in his boudoir. Both are smoking fruity cigarettes in-between doing the naughty, when Ash does something really stupid. I won't spoil your enjoyment by saying what, but you'll have to find that our yourselves. Anyway. In the series fighting numerous Deadites in varying scenarios along with two hell-pers ( sorry I just had to say it) who aid his quest to repel all demonic forces back into the bowels of hell. Ash (Bruce Campbell) is his dark-humoured dry-witted self which I love, and his two apprentices Pablo & Kelly who initially add to his woes also aid him too in his fight against the forces of evil and the Book of the Dead, which we see throughout the 10 glorious blood-soaked action-packed episodes. The series is very loyal to the original films, which isn't a surprise as the series was developed & produced by the one and only Sam Raimi creator of the Evil Dead franchise, who throughout the series uses many flashbacks from the three movies to remind us all how Ash came to this point in his life. The special/visual effects and production is of the highest quality. A lot of thought and effort went into making this. So looking forward to season two confirmed. Give me some more sugar baby! ;)

Groovy.
I was hugely sceptical. I'm not the most massive Ash fan, I enjoyed Evil Dead 2 a lot, the others I can easily forget. I saw this and thought it was going to be, at best, a cash-in on a time long-past and impossible to repeat in comedy horror history. I'm very happy I was wrong. This series is basically like they squeezed Evil Dead 2, extracted the juice, then put it in a blender with some fresh actors and scripts and literally filmed the result - which is witty, funny, dark, grim, charming, self-satirising, fairly creepy in places, gory in the classic Evil Dead comedy gore way, with some touching moments, but mostly it's Bruce Campbell totally inhabiting the Ash persona, I imagine they let him take the chainsaw home with him to cuddle up to at nights. The new faces are excellently cast, and at times even manage to steal Campbell's spotlight. The updated visual effects, which could so easily have spelled disaster, are really well done. they feel old-school, while looking great and compliment the director's film-like shooting style. Each episode really does feel quite a lot like a mini-film. Can't fault anything in this to be honest. If you didn't hate the original Evil Dead films (specifically 2 and 3) this is the series you've been looking for.

There Is Something About Ash That Is Errrrr.... So Groovy?
This is more like a massive long film. Sheer Brilliance! Expertly shot and great gag lines. Bruce is back, and back in style! Lots more opportunities to enjoy Bruce at his best :-) and he doesn't disappoint one bit. This is probably the best TV series ever and I'm only half way through series one. Bruce cracks me up with his gags, but there is more to this than just that - with great effects and some quite freakish deadites. This isn't some cheap production and if your a fan of the original Evil Dead movies you be instantly immersed into it all as they have tried to follow on the story well. And if you haven't watched the original movies, do yourself a favour and watch those too :-). Please support the creators and Bruce by buying this and we will get so many more seasons. The 17.99 season is a bit steep, but do your self some justice and watch it in Full HD :-) - You will not regret it!! Hopefully many more seasons to come. Can't wait! Oh - vote for Ash and make the Emmy's groovy again! :-D

Just recently added Stars to my plan at home and before I'd seen any of these episodes of Ash vs. The Evil Dead I'd been a huge Bruce Campbell fan, everything from the original Evil Dead films to the short run television series Brisco County Jr. I'd seen commercials for this show years ago and didn't really think much of it, I thought it was just a way someone was trying to milk $ out of the franchise and that's as far as it went for my interest, but having added Stars recently I was able to watch the first episode of the 3rd season, nothing else was on and I've gotta say, it held up pretty well, funny, gorey, well connected to the movie and done rite like it was made by the fans, then the end credits told me what bigger fans already knew, that the shows are all put together by the exact same people that did the movies, too cool! So I've been watching every episode with about the same interest I had in the first 6 seasons of the walking dead, which made me wanna see the other seasons, so I got season one of Ash vs. The Evil Dead on Blu-ray for like $18 if I remember correctly and it was well worth it, in season one after the first episode, you know it's something you're really gonna love if you've seen the original Evil Dead films, I just wish they'd talk more about the events in Army of Darkness, it's like they're under contract or something to not use film footage or make any mention of Ash traveling back in time and fighting the deadites in a time reminiscent of King Arthur, but that's all speculation, I have no idea why they don't use anything from Army of Darkness in the show, but it would've been GROOVEY!!!!

I LOVE this show! It impressed the heck out of me. The story-line took me everywhere I wanted to go and the writing was witty and funny and perfectly “Ash”. The directing was detailed. Special effects were gruesome, things I had never seen before and also back to basic original Evil Dead. Nothing was off limits in this show. Acting was classic. The music….so fitting and fired up! Every single thing about this show is awesome! I was cringing and laughing the whole time and I literally could not stop watching it. It left me wanting more and to re-watch it all again immediately. This show ROCKS! It’s the best of the best of Evil Dead. I don’t often write a review about my purchases, but this series was so well put together I felt compelled to. Everybody working on this show did the very best of what they do.

Ich bin durch die Amazon Prime Werbung auf die Serie aufmerksam geworden und habe sie meinen Freund gezeigt. Der meinte nur " Hey Ash? Evil Dead? Nein oder?". Und nachdem ich etwas Nachholbedarf hatte. (Das hieß alle 3 Teile anschauen. ) Wusste ich was mein Freund meinte.
