Mekanik Press and Pull Sleeve Kit Removal Install & Extracts Seal Bushes Bearings 27pc

Really heavy set of spacer sleeves and threaded rods, nicely contained in a blow molded case with securing clips. Used some of the smaller sleeves (44mm, 46mm) to extract some 'Metalastic' type bushes from a car suspension lower arm - stuck good and fast due to age and corrosion etc.Had to resort to map gas blowlamp to heat up the arm, but once good and hot (smoking) and placed in a hydraulic press, the bushes came out, albeit under protest! The sleeves have slots on one side; I initially didn't realise their purpose - which is to view the progress of the movement of the bush, etc as it is being pressed out/in!The sleeves were easily marked (minor dents on edges) where they were in contact with the suspension arm, but this would be inevitable in use.I suspect then, that the type of steel used in the sleeves is not chrome vanadium nor chrome molybdenum - if it was, I would have thought the kit would have cost an awful lot more! But a good set for the cost - same item from other sellers costing a lot more!Only real disadvantage is that the smallest sleeve is 44mm outside diameter, 34mm inside diameter, so if you are using a hydraulic press to deal with bushes or whatnot of a smaller diameter than this, you may, as I have done, need to source some extra sleeves or a pin set to cover smallersizes/diameters.All good otherwise!

Good product with full range of sizes. Having previously used whatever could be found in the tool chest or junk bin, this really made the job quick on a seriously rusted in bush . Good value for money.

This is a big and heavy set of tools. However, I found it a struggle to press out my bearing - simply couldn't get enough force applied. So I had to revert to drilling and cutting the old bearing out it in the end. Once the old one was out again I couldn't get enough force into the this to push the new bearing into place, ended up bowing the threaded bar. I sanded down the new bearing (which was a third party part rather than OEM so may not have been a perfect fit who knows) with a disc sander to remove a small fraction of its diameter. Once this sanding was done the Mekanik press was able to force it into place - still a very tight fit. So I would say this works and much better than trying to bodge with a standard vice or make something at home with sockets, but probably not as quick as popping down your local garage and getting them to do it with a hydraulic press.

I always read the negative reviews first.Looking at the product though, I thought it looked good enough to give it a go.Boy oh boy, was I glad that I did, it worked a treat.I’m even going to go as far to say, to all those who posted negative reviews, you probably weren’t using the tool correctly.I would highly recommend this tool, its now a staple in the tool cab.For what the tool costs, if you use it once and never use it again, its paid for itself, and the fact I used it for a complete rear set of bearings, I’m quids in all day long and once the hubs were off each side took about ten minutes and these were originals on a 20 year old vehicle which I removed.

Very good. I am impressed by this, the sleves are thick and solid. keep the threads and bearings oiled and there shouldnt be any problems. nice case and it is a large set.
