These are easy to install, keep the tiny fish from getting sucked in, and can be easily cleaned when removed from the tank with a soft toothbrush. But there are three problems with them- 1. because the slots are so fine all kinds of things clog them up like plant bits, baby plants, baby snails, food, and even fish waste. Once they get clogged you can't just reach in and clean them. Taking them out without first covering them with something only disperses all the things that have suctioned against them back into the tank. And you end up having to clean them once or twice a day. 2. The gills are very delicate. to clean them you have to be very careful not to break them. 3. Betta likes to rest against it because the suction requires no effort for him to sleep. But I have noticed that it can be a bit abrasive on his scales. Would I buy it again? Probably because it does keep the tiny fish from getting sucked in even though it is a hassle to clean every day.

I cant believe how perfect this little solution is. I have a set of 4 fluval flex 9's in a row. Each for a different type of fish. one is a grow out tank for guppy fry. it is a perfect solution for fry ending up in the filter. perfect.

Sometimes I want to cut off water completely on the bottom. So I cut up an old credit card to make it fit. So far it has stopped my baby shrimp from getting in the back. Easy to clean and better printed then others I have tried. I love that you can easily remove the gate without having to unsnap them. I’m always changing something or trying something new. So I really love these.

We use our Fluval as a nano tank and our tiny fish and freshwater shrimp kept swimming through the existing intake screens and into the overflow. These have been a perfect solution. They provide enough of a barrier while still allowing enough flow. They snap easily into place and are easy to remove and clean.

These work perfectly to keep baby dwarf shrimp from entering the filtration areas of the Fluval Flex. The slits are very closely-spaced, so I do have to make sure I clean them every day.

I loved the concept but I had to remove them because they almost caused my tank to overflow.After being on for about 2 days I realized the front part of my tank was rising and the back filter area was dropping.It was because water flowing to the pump through this device slowed down to a crawl and then the pump in the back was pushing it out faster than it was coming in.Luckily I caught it just in time.I also want to add that it want because the screen was dirty. It seemed like the 3D printed bars might have been a tad too close.Wish these would have worked out for me because they looked awesome.
