best educational game I have purchased. plus math, temperature recognition kids get to know about cooking, and we get snack ideas. the bird is supposed to be funny but I find it a bit annoying. my child does not mind though. overall, a good game. I highly recommend.

I think it's great. I nearly knocked off a star
A clever little game for youngsters, this relies so heavily on images and clear vocal instruction that they can be getting on with numeracy tasks before they can read - and before they realise it's a maths game. The food prep might ask a player to drag five items, or nine, or "let's add another two." Temperature means selecting the correct double-digit on a thermometer, and then when the difficulty increases, selecting something in between those numbers. Tapping to chop and stirring to stir, the player creates the dish and is rewarded for their skill. My daughter (4) enjoys this, honestly, more than the Frozen game which I thought would be the hit. This one challenges her - she isn't particularly competent with large double digit numbers, being 4, but she insists on playing this herself without help so she's forcing herself to learn them. "What's a 4 and a 0 next to each other called?" she calls out, hoping it's the "forty" she's seeking. She's improving rapidly. The scenarios are varied, the kids can buy and unlock new recipes, and basically yeah, I think it's great.I nearly knocked off a star, but I won't because it's only a minor silly issue - a peculiar decision which is to make our chirpy heroine deliver a mild curse-word-style phrase when she makes an error. "Oh sassafras!" she exclaims when she drops something or burns an ingredient. Or "Oh sugarbeets!", reminiscent of our primary school days where we wanted to say "S--t" but couldn't. I don't actually want my kids saying "Oh sugarbeets" when they make an error, it's rude and it sounds like we swear at home or something. Plus when you child makes 76 errors in a row the repeated phrase really grates.

Too easy.
My 5 year old daughter completed this game very fast. It was too simple. I can't believe this is the right level for up to 8 year olds. She did enjoy the game though and has decided to replay again from the beginning. She must enjoy its repetitiveness. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to her enjoyment, not the educational value.

Childs happy, I am happy. Price was and it arrived quick. Only thing they could improve with the product is to supply each cartridge with a plastic case

great purchase - game teaches numbers, addition, instruction-listening and yes, cooking
This is a great game! I bought it for my son at his request. First, the awesome thing is that you can cook as a boy or a girl. The idea is that you are helping out your family in the food truck. You also learn to clean. In the game, you go to different locations with your food truck, and make different meals. You are able to learn different recipes. Cooking consists of the following activities:1.) selecting ingredients for the recipe from a pantry, a matching exercise2.) counting a number of items (say, carrots) and moving them to a scale, adding up to a goal number. A counting game.3.) slicing and cutting (hand-eye coordination)4.) cooking, which is mostly following instructions, like adding ingredients at certain times, flipping the food, and taking it off the heat.5.) selecting the right # of ingredients by recognizing numbers. over time, these become small math problems. You start with recognizing the letter 5, then into two digit numbers like 13, and finally you see 5+5= and you have to select 10. My son got a bit stuck on the last one, but I explained he just had to choose the 5's twice. It's totally do-able and teaches addition skills. The game doesn't require the child to know how to read, although I thought it would. It does require them to recognize numbers. At the end of the day, you have to clean the truck, put things away, and recycle the trash. I like that part too!I think it's a really great game that grows progressively with your child's abilities, gives lots of positive feedback, and is apparently quite fun considering he keeps going back to play more (and usually he gets frustrated by games and stops playing after, say, 15 minutes).

Cute, fun game - helped my kid learn math
My kiddo loves this game! She is now 7 years old and enjoys most learning games, but especially those about cooking. This one has the player follow recipes to learn simple math. She was six when I bought this game, and it really gave her a great head start at school. I am so grateful for the learning apps, games and tablets LeapFrog makes. They have helped her grow into a smart kid who loves learning new things!
