Very solid mount
I wanted to use my Phone as a GPS on my Motorcycle. I first looked at Ram since I have used their products in the past and found them sturdy but after examining it and looking further I really didn't think the placement of the support arms. They seemed perfectly placed to engage the buttons on the phone and who needs that at 75mph.So I did what many might do and tried one of the inexpensive plastic units. Didnt even make it through installation. This unit was a fair chunk of change but now after using it for weeks .... it is worth every penny. It is all metal and feels like a real piece of kit. The spring tension is such and the cups on either side that hold the phone are deep enough that I think you can certainly run this with no extra strap but the kit does come with 2 silicon bands. I use one out of paranoia but the springs are more than capable on the mount themselves. The kit comes with three handlebar adapters so you can use it on different diameter bars and once mounted up .. It doesnt budge. It has a nice thumb screw which is convenient because I just keep the attachment part on the bars and bring the gps mount portion into the house if I will not be using it so the AZ sun doesnt dry out the rubber. This particular unit will rotate and allows for tilting but is not articulating but they do seem to carry a model with a double ball like ram that will let you have a wider range of movement. I have mine mounted right below the ignition key and it works perfectly. I was a little concerned spending that much on a mount from a company I have never heard of but so far .. VERY impressed and glad I bought it.Update: About 2 weeks ago after riding about 6 miles in dirt I tried to make a Uturn on asphalt on a 7' wide road with a bike that has a 9.5' turning radius. Seeing that the wife and I were going to land up in the cactus I grabbed to much front break and fell over. Me the wife and the bike slammed into the ground. The phone .. in the mount .. didnt budge!

Best one available by far.
Best motorcycle phone holder made. I already own one of these and purchased this one as a gift for a good friend. Very well built and easier to use than any other I've seen. Not cheap but well worth it. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Product
After getting one of these for my commuter motorcycle, I ordered three more for my other bikes. This is a very high quality, sleek and effective phone mount. I have tried several others over the years for use in commuting and adventure touring. The others I have used require more difficult movements to place and remove your phone and at the end of the day, were just not solid enough for the rough, everyday beating I dished out. I have an i-Phone 7 Plus in an Otterbox protective cover. The powerful spring in the cinching device for the mount holds the phone rock solid, even in bumpy off-road conditions. In my experience, at least with the Otterbox cover (which has a grippy texture), there is no need for the rubber security band provided. Also, the adjustable nature of the mount fits any application...including bicycles...and it is a snap to install. You may pay more for this mount than for the dozens of others on the market, but the TACKFORM works better, looks better, and is well worth the price.

Solid mount. Wish parts were available. Had to buy a complete new mount.
Lasted 11 months. Screw loosened riding over bumpy roads even with screw secured with blue Loctite. Used red Loctite on the new mount(screw). Using this as a holder for a Catrike Expedition recumbent monitor.

IT does what it says but the Bushings are not the best.
So yea, I'll make this simple as I can. It works well and holds solid and it can hold a big phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and I have one of the best protectors on it. My phone could fall out of my pocket at highway speeds and it would survive. This holder holds my phone with the protector on.. only just but it does hold it. You won't need the Sling but if it gives you piece of mind it doesn't hurt either. That said it's not overly easy to install. It's not complicated, but it's not easy. To told everything together and feed the screws through without a third hand can be frustrating. Also with me I needed the 2nd size bushing.. which broke. It snapped in 2 when I went to push it over my bars. So to make an already somewhat Frustrating install more so. I had to pinch the bushing between the 2 pieces of the mount and thread the screws. This is what frustrates me about the bushings.. they should be a good solid rubber, not flimsy plastic. Also make sure you have the screws balanced in tightening. Don't tighten one all the way down then do the other so they closed lopsided. You need to make sure they close equal distance on both sides. Also make sure when you install this, you install this where and how you want it the first time because it's not a simple move process either. So with all that I give an an overall 4 star. It's a bit frustrating to install and the bushing snapped on me cause Plastic, not rubber.

Flawless design and function.
I waited until I had actually used this product for a while before writing a review. I've worked with metal and design for over 35 years. The double rod and spring design is simple but genius. The cupped rubber lined grippers hold firm and even pressure on my phone. I've ridden my Triumph Bonneville T120 well over 7000 miles with this mount attached to my handlebars. I've ridden in heat and cold. Sun and rain. I've bounced over quite a few buckles in the pavement, and my phone has never budged once. I highly recommend this product. It's all metal with the exception of the rubber lining and vinyl strip used to protect your bars. It's rock solid and dependable. If you're going to spend thousands on a motorcycle, and another thousand on a smart phone... use common sense and don't cheap out on your mount. Order this one. You won't regret it.
