Gold Standard for Smoothie Blending
It was probably a decade ago that I first heard about Vitamix from a coworker. He bought one for his wife for Xmas. After some research, I determined it was WAYYYY out of my budget. Many years later, older, and more health-conscious, I started making smoothies with a NutriBullet. It’s super-compact but struggled with blending frozen fruit and ice. The ingredients will get stuck, and the engine struggled. I’ve even had a Breville blender which was still $200 and didn’t do much better of a job. Finally, I took the leap and purchased one when I caught news it was on sale. Finally, I can afford it. Okay, let’s see what all the hype is about. I really liked how there were presets for each type of blending with preset variable speed cycles and timer. Don’t forget the proper layering of smoothie ingredients - the different cycling in the program. The cycle starts off slow to mix the liquid and greens. Once the bed of greens liquifies, the rest of the ingredients sink down into the blade. Once the blade reaches the frozen ingredients, the engine revs up and cuts through everything. You can feel the strength of the motor because anything lightweight behind the blender is sent flying. Even the chia seeds got obliterated. It is overall the perfect kitchen appliance - engineering at its finest. Did you ever wonder why the pitchers are so narrow and tall - making it difficult to store on the countertop under most kitchen cabinets. The reason behind this befuddling feature is that with a narrow pitcher, the ingredients will come into contact with the blade more. The type of plastic the pitcher was made of dries super-fast. I LOVE that. Ditto for the lid. The lid has a dome shape. Not certain of the purpose. The material rinses very very well and easily. Overall, I am ecstatic with my purchase. One thing of note is ALWAYS peel your produce. I got lazy one day and did not peel the apple skin. The Vitamix really struggled. I had to run the smoothie program twice. I’m afraid it would be bad for the blender. With the high price tag, I must treat this appliance carefully. I’ve noticed the feet on the blender left gray smudges on the white countertop. I started using a mat underneath to protect my counters.

Upgrading to a Vitamix is an actual HUGE upgrade
Right to the point: - **The blades are intentionally dull** - It's easy to clean (it has a clean cycle), and has no bad crevices that are difficult to reach - It's dishwasher safe - The carafe is built like a bullet-proof tank - The machine is hefty - There was no leakage while using - It's really easy to use - The variable speed feature means you can cover all the bases - The 64oz carafe is perfect (48oz might be better if you do small preparations) I had a lot of blending to do, and the little Oster wasn't up to the task. It typically had to run 3 to 5 minutes to get the consistency needed (blending chili sauce from boiled whole chili pods). The Vitamix, with its intentionally dull blades made quick work of the chili pods, needing to run for about 1 minute for the desired consistency. I also put it through its paces with smoothies, and there really are no rules for crushing ice (unlike the Oster). Bottom line, if you use your blender frequently (once or twice a week for me), then it really is worth upgrading to a Vitamix. All these years of saying my previous blender was just fine were self-delusion. If you can afford a Vitamix, it's definitely a huge upgrade over retail store brands.

Pros: Wonderful. Cons: Loud! Poor documentation
PERFORMANCE: Love it! I haven’t used all the features yet, but it has done an amazing job so far. DOCUMENTATION: Lousy. What I don’t like is that there is virtually no instructions or recipes included. For a machine this expensive to be told “go online for recipe ideas” is ridiculous. Particularly as the presets could use a little explanation. (Eg: dessert. Huh?) SOUND LEVEL: It is crazy, painful, ear drum piercingly loud. I’ve spent an enormous amount of time trying to figure out how to build a sound deadening enclosure for it that fits under cabinets. Can’t believe no one is addressing that market need. I’m not that creative, so wish me luck as I try to find a DYI solution.

Easy to use and clean
This is a wonderful machine that works and cleans easily. We use it now for smoothies but I'm sure will put it to other uses. It functions great and the foot tastes excellent. Highly recommended.

Worth the expense
I debated this purchase for a very long time. I have a Ninja I love. I finally decided to get the Vitamix and I will say it has been worth the "hype" so far. First let me say it is louder than the Ninja, that does not bother me as long as it works well and works well it does. I drink a lot of smoothies and I am very pleased with just how smooth and well mixed they are. The size is great, it fits under my counter well. The best part is the cleaning cycle. No more removing blades and washing and each part, I just rinse it off, fill halfway with water, a drop of dish soap and in thirty seconds its finished, rinse, let it dry, done. I am glad a went ta little higher in the price and got the preset functions, its just easy to set and let it go. There is a weird burning small at first but the book does actually explain that will wear off and it has. Considering the price did make me cringe, I feel like it may just be worth it.

Remarkably bad - failed on first use
I've had the Vitamix Professional Series 750 Blender for 7 years and it's performed very well with no issues. Unfortunately it's been discontinued, so when I needed another blender I tried out this new Propel Series 750. What a disappointment! Despite being priced about the same as my old blender, it's construction is far less robust - more plastic, less weight. Of course given the Vitamix reputation, this was not a major concern, so I set everything up and prepared to make a frozen fruit smoothie - something I've done hundreds of time with my other machine. I started blending about half a carafe of fruit, yogurt and milk, and within moments the motor cut off and a strong burning smell came from the unit. I shut it off, unplugged it, and waited for awhile before trying again. The second time around the same thing happened, and again the third time I attempted to blend just a basic smoothie. Not wanting to give up on this expensive blender, I tried one more time a few days later, but, sadly, I got the same result. I can't believe a brand new Vitamix Propel Series 750 can't make it through one smoothie! As an experienced Vitamix user, I expected far better! This unit is getting returned immediately.

Great machine to make smoothies
I love it! I’m able to make two very large smoothies at a time in it. The noise level is not bad because it only takes one to two minutes to churn and mix. I put it on low to start mixing up the ingredients and then switch it high to make sure my Chia seeds are ground up well. I rinse the lid off with warm water and rinse the container out and the mess is gone. I love the large capacity because this way you don’t have to take the lid on and off to cram in more ingredients.. My recipe is almond milk, spinach leaves, celery, cucumber, tangelos, Greek plain yogurt, frozen pineapple chunks and 1 tbsp chia seeds.

Blends very smoothly but why is the spout so big?
I bought this on Prime day to replace a Ninja that started shaking alarmingly. Shoulda bought a Vitamix in the first place. It’s great and blends so much more smoothly. I haven’t found the tamper to be very useful so far. It’s easier to just stir the contents with a spoon to get the air bubble out. But when I try to pour the smoothie into a glass, it gets all over the counter because the spout is so wide. I’m going to have to use a wide mouth funnel to avoid that problem. I like the low-tech lid but I’ll have to remember not to start it without the lid on. But it’s nice to be able to take the lid off while it’s running to add ingredients. (The lid was one of the weak links with the Ninja. The other was the pitcher which got messed up by putting it in the dishwasher. I haven’t yet put this one in the dishwasher, it’s so easy to clean—it seems kind of slippery-surfaced on the inside.) Otherwise no complaints. Love that it fits under my cabinet; that’s why I bought this particular model (that and the price).
