No more elaborate treasure hunts...
EDIT (8/14/23): I had downgrade this to 1 star awhile back due to the lock ceasing to function - it would no longer push the deadbolt into the lock position (but it would open when locked). Customer service was ZERO help. After spending considerable time -- including completely uninstalling the lock from the door -- I discovered that the problem was the lock spontaneously switched direction for which way the deadbolt goes. You see, when you first install the lock, one of the steps is to train the lock which direction the deadbolt is supposed to go in order to accommodate the direction of your door. Apparently when my lock stopped working, it's because the lock "forgot" which direction is the deadbolt. Keep in mind that this occurred after only a few weeks of use with fresh batteries put in the unit at install. So this should not have been a battery issue. When I figured out the problem and retrained the lock, I put another set of fresh batteries in just to be on the safe side. Sure enough, about a month and a half later, the lock did the same thing again (but at least this time I knew how to fix it).I don't know if my unit was defective or what. There does seem to be some quality control issues here. The first unit I had came with a bent rod, making installation impossible and I had to request a replacement. And this replacement seems to have issues with forgetting how the deadbolt works. So far, this is the longest the lock has gone without having an issue (a few months now), but I feel like it's only a matter of time.THIS is why I won't get an electronic lock that doesn't also have a traditional key.I'm bumping this back up to 3 stars. When it works, it's a great unit. When it doesn't, well...-----------------------------------------------------------------ORIGINAL REVIEW:You know how it goes. You're going to be gone all day long for some reason (for me, I'm a wedding photographer), so you ask your neighbor to come over and let your dogs out.Except now you need to leave a key somewhere. You know this isn't exactly safe, but what are you gonna do? So now you have to try to think like a criminal, and outsmart them... but NOT outsmart your neighbor because you don't exactly want to have to plan out an intricate treasure map: "Ok, Jim, from the door you're going to walk 3 paces and then turn left. Hop over the bush, turn to your right and walk 10 paces. You should be under the tree now. Reach up and grab the second branch on the right and you should find a small metal cylinder. In there is your first clue..."As much as everyone loves a good treasure hunt, I have been looking into ways to make access to my house easier and more secure for both myself and my friends when they are helping with my dogs. After all, any "easy to access" place to leave a key is likely also going to be a spot a criminal will think of, too. Don't fall for those fake rocks. They look fake. We all know what you're doing. So to that end I have been looking into electronic locks for awhile now. However, I also very specifically wanted a lock that ALSO has a key for entry. The reason being, power (even battery power) can fail. Should something go wrong with the electronics of the lock, I still want a mechanical way to open the door in case of emergency. My other requirement was that I did NOT want a lock that required a connection to the WiFi network. From all of my research, this dramatically shortens the life of the batteries in the unit. This Teeho unit checked all of the boxes I wanted, with the added bonus of including a biometric fingerprint scanner. In the spirit of full disclosure, this is the SECOND unit I am reviewing. I don't know if I was accidentally sent an open box unit or a defective unit the first time, but the locking bar was slightly bent making installation impossible.Once the replacement unit arrived, however, installation was extremely simple. In fact, it took barely longer to install the new lock than it did to remove the old hardware in the door. It helped that I was fortunate enough that my old hardware was standard enough that I didn't have to make any adjustments to anything to make the Teeho hardware fit. In fact, I started installing this lock first thing in the morning only 3 sips into my first cup of coffee, if that tells you anything. The only note I will offer about the installation is that it is VITALLY important that you follow the directions about the batteries. You cannot install batteries until the lock is already installed in your door! Otherwise the unit will not be able to learn which way it needs to rotate in order to extend the deadbolt.Programming is equally straightforward and simple. It only took a few minutes to create a new Master Code, several User Codes, and to input my thumb and index finger from each hand into the fingerprint reader. One advantage the WiFi connected locks have over this one is the ability to control the lock remotely from an app. This is useful if you want to let someone in or if you are worried you forget to lock your door. For the latter, you can program an auto-lock feature into this unit so that it will automatically lock the door after 10-30 seconds. Personally, I have this feature off (it's also off by default), but it could be useful if not having to worry about a key makes one forgetful about locking the door. For the former, you can create a number of separate user codes and even one-time use codes.Overall initial impressions is that this unit is reasonably durably built and simple to install. One final note about fingerprint readers: They are a nice feature, but notoriously picky. Every fingerprint scanner I've used, from iOS devices to computers, etc., has always been hit-or-miss regarding whether or not it's willing to scan. I would expect this scanner to be no different, so the occasional failure isn't really a knock on the device.Oh, and in case you're wondering, yes, I will figure out some new excuse to send my neighbors and friends on ridiculous treasure hunts...

Great lock system
This is a great lock system. I like that you can input multiple codes (master, neighbors, guests, friends etc). I also like the classic look which fit my vintage 1910 Craftsman home perfect. I also like how it locks by your timed determination afterwards as I’m often coming in with hands full or simply forget. The only things I didn’t like were how noisy the locking mechanism is. My bedroom is close by and when guest come in and out at night it’s very loud. I also would like some type of memory for the codes in case someone abused the house or intruded afterwards it would be helpful to track using the codes used as I don’t have Ring surveillance.

Awesome for special need kids
I ordered this product to make teach my special needs teen a little more independence. I did not want to give him several house keys. This turned out to be perfect. It's only be installed for about 3 weeks. My son is able to enter and leave the home with no assistance. It has also been great for my 90 year old grandpa who resides with me as well. When I am not home and need family to check on my grandpa, I just provide the code and they can enter the home. I love this. Thinking about getting another one for my basement door as well.

So easy!
I bought this for my new home so I could let contractors in without having to give out keys.It went on perfectly, easy to install, program and use! All I needed was a screwdriver because the existing holes in my door fit perfectly.

I love the look
The look is very nice. It was easy to install. & I would have given it a 5, but due to there wasn't no instructions on how to set up & program everyone's code or fingerprint. I had to YouTube it.

Nice purchase
I’m glad I got this. I feel much safer.you have three options to open the door. Fingerprint code or key. It’s much better than hiding key.
