Makes the sound of an unplayed acoustic come to life.
I have a decent enough acoustic guitar, which used to be used daily when I was younger but now is seldom taken out of the case. So when I do play it, I find that the strings can be a bit squeaky and resistant. Previously I'd used a string cleaner which consisted of a little tin and a pad attached to the lid, and that was ok but I'm sure it dried up quickly. It was hard to tell, to be honest. What I like about this is that it's an obvious liquid, and when you apply it using the integrated fibre applicator, you can see it getting damp. You can also shake it and hear it sloshing about. After use, the strings had an audible sparkle that definitely wasn't there before, and they were much easier to play. Of course you need to bear in mind that I was starting with dirty strings, so if you are playing more regularly then it's more a case of maintaining the sound you already have.First use was a little bit worrying. The instruction is to dab the applicator until the liquid flows, and do not squeeze the bottle. After what seemed like forever before anything happened, the temptation to squeeze the bottle was overwhelming. But I persevered, and sure enough it worked. Another minor problem is, where do I keep this? I keep my guitar case laid flat, and the bottle is too tall to stand up in the compartment. But if I lay it down, is that good because it keeps the fibre pad damp and ready, or is it bad because it might evaporate? I'll find out soon enough I guess. For now, all is good.

6582 Formula 65 ULTRAGLIDE
Bought with an open mind for use on my pedal steel guitar which has steel strings fitted at the moment.I am pleasantly surprised, I notice a change in tone and a reduction in bar noise too. I would buy again however, there is enough fluid to last for quite some time. I need to do a further evaluation over time, especially with new nickel wound strings...

The good, the bad and the oily.
Okay I saw the reviews and decided to try. I have used Fastfret for years, so I had that as a comparison. Ultraglide, unlike Fastfret, feels and smells like oil (3-in-1 oil to be more exact). Yes it makes the strings feel slicker and yes tone seems better as a result, but the applicator seems to be a bit "all or nothing" and it's easy to end up with oily streaks on the fingerboard if you are not careful... unlike Fastfret there's no mention of Ultraglide being good bad or indifferent to the fingerboard; there is however a warning that it" causes skin irritation" (fingertips?) , as well as " serious eye irritation"....best not be absent mindedly rubbing your eyes during a practice session!Contrasting with these warnings we have a couple of very vague appeasements in the form of "green product" and "biodegradable", which I can't take seriously without any further information.I have taken to cleaning my strings with a bit wiped onto a small strip of plastic backed fabric (vinyl/ leatherette) which doesn't absorb too much of the Ultraglide and then with the applicator I carefully wipe the strings two at a time to leave a thin film on to coat and seal the strings from oxidation. Good news is, with careful use, one bottle should last you years.

Excellent product. Would recommend
Wish i had discovered this years ago. Im very surprised at the result. Tried it with good strings that were only 3 weeks old on a brand new stratocaster and the difference is incredible. The big thing i noticed was the immediate sustain increase from the strings. The strings sound brighter seemed a little smoother on the frets when bending and definitely makes it faster to play. I only used a tiny amount and really got unexpected results. I have not tried fast fret or other products like this before so cant make a comparison but i will be using this from now on. Would highly recommend.

Cleans, conditions and improves tone
Excellent product. I bought an old guitar, the strings were a bit tired looking and has no brightness in look or tone. I researched all the string cleaners and conditioners and decided to give this a go. Excellent results, I cleaned the strings twice, yes they really needed it, now they are really clean , ok not shiny new but they are now smooth to the feel and the tone is as good as new. Great product.

Whatever
Whether we need this 'stuff' or not, a pleasure to use.

Good stuff. Seems to do what it says on the bottle !!
This stuff seems really good and not expensive. The applicator isn't what I was expecting from the pics. You too it up and kind of dab it up and down the strings. The dabbing action causes the felt cap to slowly wick the fluid. This makes sense so you only get a fine coating on the strings and it's not running off them onto the fretboard. DON'T SQUEEZE THE BOTTLE WHIKE APPLYING ! Strings feel clean and slinky. Even if it extends thier life just a bit, at this price and for the improved feel it's worth it

Loses top end
I bought this for my bass guitars. Which I hadn’t touched in 2 years. The strings felt a bit stiff and dry.It certainly makes it smoother and faster to play. BUT you will lose some high end presence (high frequency treble).Seems like a MUCH better deal than the other string lubricants out there.
