Droplets (DROPLETS Trilogy Book 1)

Worthwhile not perfect
This is a much better book than I first expected but somehow it left me unsure if I want to continue. It is well written and there are some parts that make you want to root for the characters. But, and maybe this is my personal bias, trilogies that get an entire way through one of the three books and nothing character defining or breakthrough has happened, rarely have enough juice to see me through to the end of book 3. Maybe I’m not patient enough. I can see that this book has such good potential but it took all the way through book one and I feel like some good things could happen but overall I am underwhelmed. I would just expect to see some kind of development of character arc going on but so far whatever character development/change there was appeared to happen in the last two pages of the book. So yeah, not sure if I have the patience to go to book two or if I am going to slog through it to see if the characters begin to grow and change at all. I think I probably will, because the basic storyline is pretty magical. Also I understand this is a self published book, so no one should take my next words as condemnation for the work as a whole. There are some obvious and glaring spelling and grammatical errors. Not many, but some. Overall worth the read, though I would not call it wonderful. It was good and as long as book two gets going well, I will probably read the whole series. I used to have this feeling that starting to read a book was like a contract that I will finish the whole thing no matter how badly it is written, but after I started reading on Wattpad I realized I don’t have time for all of the ridiculous stories that somehow end up as a kind of word vomit in the world. So now I know that if I don’t feel a desire to keep reading after chapter 5, I probably won’t ever. So I promise that much of my effort for book 2 and we’ll see how it goes from there.

BuyerBeware! Just finished this "trilogy"... was no resolution & clear set up for a book 4.....
I purchased this "trilogy" a few months ago on sale (all 3 books included). I am almost positive it was made to seem a "complete" trilogy. (3 books and being defined as a trilogy pretty much should say it all, shouldn't it?) I don't appreciate the bait and switch. I have to admit I did somewhat enjoy the series, which is why I didn't give it a 1. But be prepared if you start this series, that book 3 will not have a complete resolution and is clearly setting up for another book, or, at the very least going to cause you to imagine your own HEA. Also, I looked online to see if there WERE any other books, and, as of the date of this review, there are not. These 3 are the only titles showing for this author. Who knows when, or if, another book will come?

Blown Away & Nothing Like I Expected (In a Good Way)
Lissie and her family’s annual cruise takes a horrific turn when a storm battles and batters their boat. Lissie is thrown overboard, only to be saved by a monster who wants one thing: Her. The cruel man, who has fins like a merman when he hits the water, changes Lissie through a painful process. Having misjudged her age, the merman leaves her until her eighteenth birthday, when he will come back to claim her. Not wanting to be someone’s slave, Lissie will run and set many events into motion…I was so impressed by this book. On first picking it up, I totally thought it would be one of those YA books where this mysterious and hard-edged man (merman in this case) would come and force Lissie into something. Later they would fall in love and it would be just another Beauty and the Beast knockoff. This book was nothing like that and it was refreshing. This story had so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I really can’t say how much I was relieved that this book didn’t take the turn where Lissie fell in love with the first guy that crossed her path. The mermaid mythology in this book was really good. I liked the subtle differences to the mythology that I have heard so many times. Even though most of it isn’t known/explained till later in the book, I didn’t feel confused. I really enjoyed that Lissie got to be in the heart of it all and learn so much.Lissie was a great character. I’m so glad she didn’t just stand by and be a victim. She went out and tried to change the fate forced upon her. I liked that she was strong, but she had moments of weakness. Her strength wasn’t annoying like it can so often be in YA books, where the main girl can do anything and everything. She wasn’t perfect and I love to find characters that have a few flaws. It makes them more real.I really loved Patrick in this book. He was just amazing, but I won’t say too much more for fear of spoilers. The ending to this book was really satisfying. It made me want to read more and it does leave the reader with some unanswered questions. I really enjoyed the pacing at the end and that it doesn’t just drop off after the main action is over. There’s a small bit of breathing room after all the action and I always love when books do that. After finishing this book, I couldn’t wait to start the next one, but I have hesitated based on the synopsis of the next one. I’m sure it will be just as excellent as this one, but I just haven’t picked it up. Regardless of that, I really want to read the next book and discover what happens next.

Great Story!! Loved it!
I disliked not knowing what the purpose of the forcibly changed merfolk was exactly. It's still unclear and I disliked the cruelty of Morven and the Hyven. But a very good story really loved the first 10-15 chapters. They were well written and it's an enticing mer story.

I love mermaids
I have been looking for a looooong time for a series about mermaids that has a great story line and was actually good! Found it!! Can’t wait to start the next one. Great story line with love interest. Good baby evil with even a slight little mermaid vibe. Couldn’t put it down!

Love as deep as the ocean
I've read a few books about mermen and mermaids, but this one was very different. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will just stick to the bones of a review. The characters were very well developed and I fell in love with the main couple. The plot was very deep and certain aspects of it surprising. There weren't a lot of spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. This book certainly made me a fan of this author. I can't wait to read the next book of this series.

Unnecessary, boring, confusing
It started off really nice but as it went on it just got confusing and boring..it’s very unrealistic we’ll it is a mermaid book but I more so mean that her personality was unrealistic the things she did was just odd and didn’t make sense and most of all unnecessary…she was way to comfortable way to fast it was just weird. Had a lot of potential tho. Sad.

A must have for all mermaid genre lovers!
One of the best mermaid fiction books I have read in a long time. Very well written with interesting likeable characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Droplets
Not my normal read but I thought it looked interesting. I was not disappointed. On an annual cruise with her family while she is singing to herself she begins to hear a strange murmur across the surface of the ocean. Unbeknown to her this is her first encounter. The next evening throws her family in the midst of a horrific storm and she is swept overboard. She is saved by the same creature who she heard the night before. He now holds the key to her future and changes her life forever.

Twilight like
I loved the merpeople, the world creation, the cultural conflict, and the character building were all very well done. The writing is strong and enjoyable.I just couldn't get behind the Twilight-like main love story. A 17 year old girl with two men hundreds of years old, both with abusive controlling tendencies. One forces himself on her in a metaphorical rape and the other forces her to his cabin at knife point. There, of course, is more context but it didn't convince me of the redemption of Patrick's actions. The relationship between her and the sort of better than the bad guy but not really develops too fast and should have been drawn out more to make it even believable. Patrick is too father-like and aggressive to be an appropriate match, especially with such a difference in life experience and maturity. For the same reasons I strongly disliked Twilight's love story I dislike this one.

You won't miss anything
It's a typical YA paranormal romance novel. Which can be fun for light read now and then. The problem here is that the characters and dialog are flat. The heroine, if you can call her that, is annoyingly whiny. Most internal and external conversations are cheesy in not a good way and sadly never funny. However the sceneries and settings described are quite enjoyable and imaginative. I also liked learning a couple of new words.I try to finish a book when I start it. So when I labored through the beginning I kept on for the hope of character development and a plot twist or two.I have to say, I could get on board with some of the story but I am not hooked on the characters. I do not think I will be reading the second book.
