Highly Recommend!!
Received my water lettuce today and it looks so healthy, despite its recent travels to get to me. It also came with clear, concise instructions, what to expect and the possibility of it looking not-so-healthy had the temps been hotter or the travel days longer. They did a great job of setting expectations prior to taking a look at the plants themselves. Definitely recommend!!!

Satisfied Customer
I was nervous about ordering water lettuce through Amazon. I was expecting them to arrive in poor condition. However, they arrived in pristine condition!! They were not crushed or damaged. I’m so happy with my purchase.

Awesome
I’ve order from these folks for several years and have never been disappointed. I have a 8 x 12 reflecting pond, and regardless of how much water I move with a fountain, it’s hard to keep it clean. Pond lettuce makes all the difference—it eats up the muck for me. Of course, I don’t have unrealistic expectations in terms of how they arrive in the mail. A plant that normally lives in the water may arrive a little banged up and tired looking from multiple days of being jostled in the mail system. Sometimes they arrive looking fresh and happy, but not always. No matter what condition they are in, I give them some TLC before I put them to work…I place them in a very wide mixing bowl in room temperature, filtered (or bottled) water, and put the bowl in a sunny place for a few days, sometimes as long as ten days, if they need it. (keeping an eye on the water level, of course). Even the saddest plants, when given enough time in a stress-free environment, will begin to sprout new leaves and regenerate themselves. The totally wilted leaves can be pruned off with a scissors. Once they’ve had a rest and/or are starting to perk up, I introduce them to the pond on a day that’s not to hot or too cold. Within a few weeks, they start making babies, and by the end of the summer, I’ll have quite the colony of plants... at least three times what I started with, if not more. I only wish they could survive the freezing Michigan winters! Last summer, I noticed they weren’t happy in 89 degree weather with no shade, so I moved them to a smaller pond that has some shade —they really thrived there, so a a little shade is definitely desirable. I also learned they don’t mix well with hyacinths (the colonies moved themselves to opposite ends of the pond!). One last word on helping your plants survive: make sure their water isn’t laden with chemicals. My city water has so much chlorine, you can smell it. My ponds are maintained largely with rain water. If pond levels go down, I use a filter that attaches to my hose to make sure my plants don’t get ‘fried’ in bleach.

Buy Local
Water Lettuce was as advertised and survived shipping. The plant is still alive well over a month later, however the roots were cut back so far for safe shipment that the plant is well behind plants i purchased 2 weeks ago locally. The local plants have already multiplied 4-5 over. These plants have not generated daughter plants still. I was also able to buy 4 times the number of plants for this price by buying local.Next year i will wait until local supplies are available.
