Drawing: Space, Form, and Expression (4th Edition) 4th Edition

I'm enjoying the book. Had to get it for a class that I'm taking. Let me just say that I'm a beginner in drawing. No way am I talented enough to draw portraiture or anything of that nature but I do have a bit of talent and this book is helping me to hone my skills a little more better. It's well organized and in depth with details that I found in other books on space and form to not be there. Not pretentious and overtly complex with ideas. The techniques in the book make you feel at ease, which in turns let you learn the craft of artistry better in my opinion. Anyway this is just a simple review of the book so far since I'm still reading and learning. As well as draw my butt off. Having a great time doing it. I would recommend to beginners to professionals. Great read.

This book is an excellent resource. It is very clear and the examples are really very helpful. If you are a beginner or an artist of years, there is very much to learn from this book. The text does offer some excercises, but it's greater strength is from the explanation of processes. The book doesn't play out as an analysis of art pieces, but describes the process of creating an expressive and cohesive work in pretty much any style of drawing. It tells you how to practice and what to look for in a subject and in your drawing. This was the textbook we used in my drawing classes and it has been an invaluable resource since then.This book will help you find ideas and transfer them into your unique art.

This is the 4th and 5th copy of this book that I (attempted to) order. This is a great book for anyone teaching Drawing 1 in college. I ordered a copy for a new instructor who is replacing me on maternity leave, and another one for myself because the last two copies have gotten stolen!! However, after getting an order confirmation, I never got the books! Then, several weeks later, well after the semester started, I got an email from the seller saying the item was out of stock and my money had been refunded. By then, I had found other means of communicating the material to the new instructor, mainly via my notes on this book because I have it memorized.

My daughter uses this at college. As far as I know, all is great.

I bought this book new, so it was in perfect condition when I got it. I wish it was in hardback because paperback books are so hard to keep in prime condition to be able to sell back it a good price.

Very well done text book, and nicely structured.It would have been nice to see every page in color... unfortunately, only about 20 of them were done in color.Anyways, if you are looking for a "get's to the point" kind of drawing textbook, this is your best bet.

Would have preferred to buy the latest edition of this book but this edition was very affordable and contains great infornation.

A must have for academic studies and advanced drawing classes. Clear and broad, from contemporary examples to the classics. Not for beginners.
