Belts will stretch a little and therefore it is OK to use some force to install the belt.
My Treadmill is 20 years old and the belt fit perfectly. Originally I thought the belt was too short and called the Treadmill Doctor. They offered to send the next largest size but it was not necessary as the belt did stretch a little just as they described.
