Lovely starter book for young children
The size was good, nice illustrations beautifully set out. Used it for a 5 yr old with some children's binoculars for a birthday present.

Not all common birds are in this book
This book had nice clear pictures and my 6 year old granddaughter could read it herself. However, it did not have some reasonably common birds; hopefully maybe a second edition will become available

The best bird identification book for young people and beginners
An excellent little book with nice clear photographs of the different birds with attention drawn to distinguishing features and text about habitat and characteristic behaviour, Extremely well thought out with tick boxes and identity photos so that children of all ages can record having seen the birds.Good for children and beginner adults. Nice large clear text too. This is probably the clearest basic information I have seen in a bird book. I warmly recommend this book. This is an RSPB book and infinitely better than the RSPB's My First Book of Garden Birds which has illustrations so badly painted that a child could not recognise most of them.

Amazing book
My 5 yo son asked to buy him a book about birds where he can tick birds he spotted. This was an ideal book - not too big, so we can take it with us when we go out, and with a ‚tick‘ sheet. Beautiful illustrations and easy to read for a child.

Lovely pictures, big print and not too much of it!
Bought this for my three year old grandson, who has been going for long walks in local parks, etc with his parents during lockdown. To add interest for all of them, they are learning a lot more about the natural world. This book is excellent, as the pictures are beautiful and not too much information for a little one to take in. However, I wish it had been stated that 'dunnock' is another name for house sparrow!
