Initial reaction is impressed
It was very heavy and difficult to get up the stairs to where it was going (because of the weight and size). Other than that though, once it was unboxed and all the taping removed, the setup was easy and everything worked straight away. It doesn't come with any cable but I had cables from my old printer. I tried first the USB cable, and then decided to use a network cable; both worked fine (although you have to redo the installed software if you do that). I was impressed with how fast and quiet it is compared to my former laser printer. The color printing was better than what I thought it would be. The toner cartridges were already installed but there is a pullout drawer for them and I can see that replacement will be straightforward. The display panel told me there was a firmware update available (when I connected it with a network cable) and the update was quick and without issue.I'll have to see how it performs long term, but again, initially I'm impressed.

Decent Office Printer for the Price
I got this for work purposes mostly since we have to print out and scan work orders (I repair laser printers). I mostly print in Black & White but tested the color on this with a few prints. The colors came out nice! Much better than I thought and it didn't seem to eat up the toner. Speaking of, I still have 98% black and 99% color toner left on the starter cartridges. I gave it a thorough going over & the toner cartridges seem easy enough to change out. I can't say much as to the cost of new toner as my company reimburses us for that stuff.

Canon Small Office Business Copier
I really like this new Canon Copier for our Small Business Office. Our Big Ricoh Copier finally died, and I did not want to spend $10K on a new machine. This Canon Copier works well, and over the last few years we don't make as many copies as we used too. Time will tell how long it holds up. But for now er really like it.. Very Good - Price, Quality, Value, and Productivity.

Print a lot
Needed a bigger printer for work. It works well and is easy to set up. There are still some things I am not sure how to use, but it does what I need.

VERY difficult to set up. Confusing manual. Unable to activate some functions.
We bought this device for our home, attracted by some good reviews and the features. It is very difficult to set up; we are still struggling to get basic features operational. An absurd problem - the pamphlet supplied with the machine has printed misinformation. The pamphlet refers you to a website for FAQs and to download the manual. The website does not perform these tasks. I called the company; the very nice reception person knew nothing of the information on the pamphlet. She did refer me to a functional website, from which we were able to download the manual.Unfortunately, the manual is long and confusing to use. To get some functions to work we ended up searching for an online community of Canon users. We obtained some useful information, after weeding through some unhelpful postings. We reached by telephone a service rep from Canon who ultimately helped us activate the basic functions we want. Much of what we want to do does NOT need the cumbersome sets of controls and connections which the manual outlines. The "Remote UI" is not actually needed. The touch screen often fails to register pressing over an icon.Scan quality (scanning an image and sending it to a computer) is quite good. However, establishing the functionality to accomplish this task was frustrating. It appears that we will not be able to scan an image and send it by email from the machine, despite the purported capability to do this task.Print quality is reasonably good for text and images, perhaps not as good as other devices.Bottom line - poor touch screen, bad instruction manual, and complex set up render this device a very problematic purchase. Seek an alternative.

Great Printer - Warning Re Toner
This is a very good printer - easy to use and the print quality is excellent. The reason for the 3 stars is due to toner requirements. You Must use Canon products. I bought Canon compatible toner cartridges for this model that were much more affordable. The printer would not operate; the message center flashed a red light and stated it would not operate because the toner was not a Canon product. I did prolonged troubleshooting procedures from the maker of the non-Canon toner as well as suggested workarounds from others. Nothing worked.BOTTOM LINE: I am not happy. Toner for products like this is expensive. I would not have purchased this printer if I had been aware of this.
