Inspiringly illustrated throughout the seven chapters, the information and guidance relating to the purchase of flowers and foliage, tools of the trade, elements and principles of design, descriptions of techniques and step by step instructions and drawings for designs are all presented in an easy to understand and clear cut manner - testimony to the author's wide experience and expertise as a teacher. The A-Z of flowers and foliage is a particularly useful reference. Attractively set out with many fresh ideas and tips from the expert, I guarantee this book will inspire and motivate.

I wanted to book to help me pull together arrangements for an upcoming wedding - this is very clear, starting with details on the types of flowers, seasons in which they are available and then moves on to things like conditioning, basic design principles and simple arrangements. It's excellent and highly recommended as I have looked at others at the Library and most are very dated - though I'm sure they were good back in their day (90s...)

This book is a delight to read, with page after page of helpful and practical advice. The most attractive thing I found about it however was the quality of the photographs and illustrations. Even ignoring the content, the book feels good.The paper quality of the pages, the binding and the covers all feel luxurious and well-made. It was bought as a Christmas present and was so well received, I am gald I made this choice.

I am a flower arranger already but I wanted to go back to basic and found this guide very helpful and well presented especially in regards to elements and principles which are very clear and easy to follow much better than other books I have read on the subject. I would recommend this book.

Fantastic book - loads of lovely pictures and ideas - including some traditional and contemporary designs Am new to floristry and started course at local college. This book gives descriptions and latin names of some of the common foliage and flowers used in flower arranging. Its one of my best flower book purchases

As with all Judith Blacklock's books, the instructions are clear and concise and easy to follow. All the classic arrangements well explained with diagrams and lovely illustrations plus some less traditional ideas. Although the title implies that this book is especially suitable for beginners, I found it inspiring and helpful and have been flower arranging as a hobby for several years.

Flower Arranging For Beginners is a book full of information that I will be able to use. The pictures and directions didn't disappoint. I have no formal floral training but after reading this book, I have produced my own beautiful arrangements. This book makes it so easy, you can use it to make the exact arrangements you see in the beautiful photos or use it to make originals of your own by changing flowers, colors and vases. The author makes you feel confident enough to jump right in and do your own thing. I am quite please with this book in its contents, pictures and knowledge. Just about anyone can learn from this wonderful book.

It is a great book with a lot of pictures and covers almost all things you need to know about the floral design.

This is a fantastic book. The alphabetically listing of flowers suitable for flower arranging is worth the price of the book. Each flower is shown with a picture, a description, and the form type of the flower. Ms. Blacklock covers choosing plant material, mechanics, the elements and principles of design, and then offers many beautiful projects. With this one book, you could start with arranging tulips in a vase and go all the way to arranging flowers for a wedding bouquet and arrangements for the reception. (But I would also buy the small paperback by Judith Blacklock, "Flower Arranging (Teach Yourself)). The book covers the basics and presents many creative, innovative contemporary designs. I love it!
