Delightfully delicious! Not too tart nor too sweet or bitter! Arrived well-protected-no leaks!
Ok, first time trying this and I LOVE it! I tried it straight, first--it's wonderful! Fully balanced!Nice that it's not too sweet, nor too sour, nor too bitter! (Nor is it too "hot" from an overly strong ginger taste--it's just right!) I find the usual sodas are too sweet, so I prefer tart, but not too bitter flavors, and this is perfect! (So glad it's not one of those ubiquitous Kombucha vinegar drink--as I hate those! This is nothing like that.)Also VERY impressed with the secure and thorough wrapping and packaging the sellers did to protect this bottle of liquid and make sure it arrived to me intact! There was no spillage! No leakage! And NO breakage or broken glass! That's rare, in my experience, nowadays---although it shouldn't be--it's just common sense to wrap such items protectively. Thankfully, these folks did.

Tasty elixir
It was the black current that made me get this. I don't often encounter products made with black current besides maybe a jam, and I was intrigued. What kind of flavor could this add? How does it have nutritional benefit? No better way to find out than to try it.My first impression is that it's expensive for 8 servings, especially since I never do figure out exactly what it does. Is it just meant to flavor? The information seems to claim that it has nutritional benefits, many actually, but I'd like more reason why. It's not reflected in the nutritional facts, as it doesn't seem to have much of anything required beyond carbohydrates. I have no doubt that it could do something, but how? Can't hurt to try it anyway. If nothing else, it seems to be a potentially interesting flavor. First I try it straight. It's like a thin syrup. There's only four ingredients, and straight, you taste them all in succession. The currant is first, which is nice that it is so strong, and it's not just a hint of the fruit, but very recognizable. However before I can process that, the ginger comes burning along. My mouth and throat are hot. Then the lemon juice, which seems to bring out both the flavor and potency of the ginger. Finally, I feel a soothing honey sweetness that tempers the maelstrom of flavors going on. It's strong, tasty, and very interesting.I really like this as an addition to iced tea. The bitter black tea mixes well with these flavors and they enhance each other. I think it could also be really interesting as a flavoring for shaved ice. I don't have a way to make shaved ice, so I haven't tried it yet, but that could be delicious. I'm going to find more uses for this elixir before I run out of it. I don't notice any health benefits yet, but I'd suspect you'd have to use it more regularly before that would happen.

Four simple ingredients. Fantastic taste. Versatile.
Immune Schein Black Currant ElixirThe 250 ml / 8.5 fl oz glass bottle arrived well packed. The bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap and swaddled in a lot of paper inside a good cardboard box that was taped well. Really nicely done. The bottle itself also had a bit of plastic (safety seal) around the lid.I refrigerated the bottle before using it for the first time because I wanted the elixir (what a great word) cold. I shook the bottle as directed, and then poured 10 ounces of cold, filtered water into a glass. I added 1 ounce of the black currant elixir as the directions recommended a 10 to 1 ratio if mixing. This reminds me of British “squash”, but with better ingredients. I drink a lot of plain water every day, but it’s nice to add a bit of flavor every now and then, and this flavor was fantastic. The lemon flavor was front and center, followed by a nice ginger kick, with the black currant in the background. I really enjoyed my drink. I also tried the elixir straight, and it was just as tasty but with a spicier ginger kick to it since it wasn’t diluted. I could happily drink a shot of this every day. There are so many ways to use this concentrated elixir that it makes me wish the bottle was larger.Refrigerate after opening. The bottle I received in January 2023 was marked Best By 110324. Handmade in the Hudson Valley (New York).

Tastes better less diluted; won't last long
I really, really wanted to like this more than I did. I was extremely excited to get it and I keep trying it in new ways, but now that I'm at the bottom of the bottle it I just feel a little sad.I would actually quite like more but it's really best at low dilutions but the amount you get per bottle really begs to be used like a syrup. This review is going to be kind of conflicted because I feel very conflicted about this; on one hand, I really like the way it tastes undliuted or at a very low dilution, but it won't last long enough to justify getting it that way. When diluted 10:1 as the bottle suggests, it will last; but it tastes mostly of lemon and ginger, in not a particularly special way, which is something you can get anywhere for much less. I so very much want to like this, though!First, the good:I was worried this was going to be too sweet. It isn't very sweet at all, which I enjoy. The bottle is really nice and would be impressive as a gift. The bad:It tastes mostly of lemon juice and ginger. The blackcurrant flavor is only *barely* detectable if you drink it in a very high concentration, or undiluted, which will be too sour for most people, I fear. Now, let me say, this is not a criticism of the taste. I very much like sour things and will steal a nip of pure lemon juice here and there. The ginger is fresh and strong as well. You can absolutely taste the honey in it. It's just that the blackcurrant really isn't anywhere to be found and the bottle and the color of the drink really seems to promise a blackcurrant-centered experience. That with the listed price of it-It is quite nice, especially if you can tolerate it undiluted. Just - not enough for me to recommend it as a premium product. Someone more fond of ginger and less expecting blackcurrant should be quite happy.I can't speak to its curative power as it hasn't has any effect on the congestion I've had.
