This is THE BOOK to buy for your Gibson, Epiphone or Chinese Imported style guitar!!!
This is some amazing and awesome book that I recently brought initially for curiousity reading which turned out to be my new bible of all tech books! The book is completely loaded and packed with all sorts of information about Gibson guitars, its electronics, the components and of course wiring in all different type scenerios. It clearly explains what the function of each electrical part does in the guitar and gives clear cut examples of them such as using photographs, drawings, lay out models, diagrams, etc. For someone like me who is brand new to guitars and wiring, the book was easy to understand and easy to find specific topics as everything had been catagorized in different chapters. The Q&A section in the back of the book is also very helpful with common questions about guitar electronics and how they work. You can even download a pdf version of the book (upon purchasing) which is in color making all the wiring diagrams, photos, examples, etc..much better and clearer to view and follow. The author, Tim Swike, was extremely helpful and quick with answering all my questions via emails and even provided me with a new wiring diagram for my new Ace Frehley Les Paul guitar (imported copy). He is very knowledgeable with all sorts of guitar wiring diagrams and really knows what he is talking about. For someone like myself who is new to this, I am very glad that I discovered his book at the time when I brought my axe. I already knew that most of the wiring and electronics were probably junk inside and I was planning on installing real genuine USA made parts instead. I was originally going to hire a guitar tech to do the wiring job and installation of the new humbuckers for me, but after reading this book, I won't have to do this anymore! I saved at least $150 for doing it myself by using common work tools, a soldering iron, a new guitar wiring kit I brought online and a few free days over the weekend.I highly recommend this book to anyone who owns or is thinking of buying a Gibson, Epiphone or even one of those Chinese clone guitars because this book covers them all. Its really good to know how your axe ticks inside and how you can fix or trouble shoot problems yourself without having to spend extra $$ having someone else do it!

Photos are Black and White
This book has excellent diagrams but lacking on detailed photos. Black and white pictures make it extremely hard to see details. Altogether it’s very disappointing.

The book would be much more useful if . . .
Okay, while I still don't much care for the printed version of this book upon further review, I finally found the e-version which was included. That has everything I need. So, while I like the e-version, I still find the printed version to be less than satisfactory. I won't be returning it, but people should be aware that the printed version isn't nearly as useful as it could be.When a book refers to color diagrams, it should actually have color diagrams, not black and white. This book is practically worthless as is because every page refers to "the color diagram below", etc. but all pictures are poorly reproduced in black and white. They aren't even scaled properly. When reduced for print, some photos are stretched and flattened. So, I'll give the e-version 4 stars, the print version 2 stars. Average of 3.

If you need to know anything about wiring a guitar, you need this book.
After being an electronics technician for 35+ years, I thought I knew how to wire a pickup. I actually do, but there are so many options that affect tone and “hot rodding” your sound, there’s no way I could remember them all. Well illustrated, and understandable, even for me. Highly recommended.

Good Pictorial Reference
If you're looking for a pictorial reference guide to help you get a better understanding of Les Paul wiring, then this book serves its purpose. I would have preferred for the book to be in color and not have to refer to the downloaded version but that's a minor issue as the value of the info is still valid. As a guitar electronics tech, I encourage people to learn about their guitar and the possibilities available. This book helps you unlock your guitar's potential.

most discriptive
I had looked at many books regarding the subject and found the Les Paul book the most descriptive in regards to guitar wiring models. It had generic plans for all makes. All the books had info that was informative but not as in depth as this one. The book covered subjects from A to Z. I wish the diagrams were in schematic form though, but they were easy to understand. Very good book.

Guitar wiring for just about any guitar you wish for.
I could only find this ebook on guitar wiring at the time of looking. It was inexpensive & I needed to learn about guitar wiring. Am I glad I got this book. It covers everything you need to know and I've used this to make 2 strats 1 Double Cut and my current project is a Gibson Les Paul style. It even shows you how to design your own wiring looms using a circuit test /bread board.

Good book for modding freaks
Quite a good book for anyone who is handy with a soldering iron. Fairly comprehensive, includes the 3-pickup models. Probably more suitable for those who want to improve their Epiphones rather than risk spoining an expensive Gibson

Epiphone included where ??
There is almost no specific reference to Epiphone content in this book even though they have amended the title to include Epiphone!!! I expect my comments will be refuted by the author but this book is claiming to include Epiphone. You would have to be an expert to elicit the Epiphone content . If you want Gibson information it is excellant and as Epiphone is part of the Gibson family Epiphone information is included by default. I had hoped that it would include the contribution by Korean Samick Industries and Sanshin pick-ups but there is no reference to their contribution to the Epiphone story. I know they are considered on the perphery of the Gibson story and a cheaper alternative but they do sell under the Epiphone label. As the owner of three Epiphone SG models spanning the three decades of Korean production I feel that there exclusion is an opportunity missed. Finding out information on the Samic models appears to be extreemly difficult as the information always reverts to Gibson Models. Whilst I revere the american pick-ups fitted to the Gibson Guitars as the Samick production represents such a large proportion of the Epiphone production we do need information on the equipment fitted and upgrades.Very dis appointed I could have spent the money better on another book.
