This is an AMAZING product and a must-have for any DIY guy/gal
This is an AMAZING product and a must-have for any DIY guy/gal. If used properly, it will get you out of a difficult situation. I broke off a stud on the engine head, used an extractor to get it out, well, that also broke off. I went through 10 or so tungsten carbide bits to no avail. Frustrated, I got on the internet and came across the Rescue Bit – ordered 3/16” which came in the mail 2 days later. I attached it to a cordless drill (Mistake #1 - only 2k RPM, you need minimum of 20k RPM for this product to work properly) it pulverized the extractor, but then again, I made a HUGE MISTAKE by not following directions and deciding to use it like a regular drill bit while trying to drill out the screw. About an inch or so in the Rescue bit broke off creating a nightmare scenario. I called Mike from Rescue Bit, he walked me through what to do - which I should have done from the get-go. I got another Rescue Bit, this time 1/8” and attached it to a Dremel -drilled a hole next to the stuck Rescue bit and used a small chisel to break it apart and remove it, after that I used rescue bit to pulverize rest of the stud - took me three days but I got it out. I could not have done it without this tool. So, the moral of the story is – the product is amazing, and if used properly, it will cut through the hardened steel like through butter. Please READ the directions and if not sure call Mike, he will walk you through it, otherwise, you may exacerbate your predicament just as I did.

It save my wallet
Ok, I purchased one after spending over 100 dollars trying to remove a broken extractor. It did remove, 2 , yes I broke 2 inside the broken bolt. Everything was going perfectly after I broke a brand new ‘China made ‘ bolt trying to bolt the part. I the side of the bit that still was in working order and after drilling all the way true I slipped with my drill and broke the bit inside the whole. So I order a new one to remove the broken one. I give 5 start to this bit . If you follow the instructions by the letter it will save you time and money. Please make sure you are not using flip flops when you are using your drill .

Works
Not one to normally write a review but seeing as how many people have wrote some negative ones I will write one to counter it.It works if you follow the directions. You have to take it slow and not use a lot of pressure. I had a broken e-z out buried in a stainless m6 bolt in an aluminum part. I took my time did not force it and after about 30 min of slowly working the bit I was thru the hardened steel. The one complaint I do have is the price of the bit. They are expensive. It is cheaper than the part I was working on how ever. They need to bring the price down so I can buy the other 2 sizes.

Rescue Bit Broken Screw Extractor Removal Tool really works.
I worked exactly as the instructions said it would... It effectively removed a broken titanium drill bit and a hosed-up roll pin.

Doesn’t work very well.
Broke off a bolt in the block of my 200 amp welding machine the bolts on the water pump. Drilled a pilot hole into the broken bolt. I used a normal ez-out and broke it off in the bolt. Bought this Rescue bit and it did not work well at all. Wound up using a burr bit to remove the ez-out and bolt. Don’t waste your $$$ !

When other extractors fail, try this.
I had three broken stainless bolts on a Yamaha trim/ tilt hydraulic unit that is 20 years old, used in salt water, assembled with hardening Loc-tite. soaked in PB Blaster, and heated. The Rescue bit was able to cut through the broken bolts using light fast turning speed motion in a slight rotating motion to avoid locking up on the sides. The bit will not cut carbide but works great on anything softer. After removing the stainless steel down to the internal bolt threads, I just drilled and tapped the holes from 3/16” to 5/16” because I had room for the oversized socket head bolts.Be patient and work slow so you don’t break the bit. I used the 3/16” bit in a high speed cordless drill. I could have used the collet bit holder in a die grinder but did not want the loud air noise in my ears for that long of time.

Buy or don't Buy???
The tool worked as the claim goes. Pricey.. Yes. ! But when all said and done was glad to have found something that works. CAUTION: As instructed. Use low speed. You can see the bits of steel as the bit cuts through. As others stated, I had a boat motor and had a couple of bolts snapped off. Did the heat, did the penetrating oil. Tryed the drill bit and easy out. Snapped the hardened easy out in the bolt. Search the web till I found this. The tool cut throught the easy out with ease. Use low speed drill. Using at high speed will destroy the tool. Past the easy out the tool then attacked the broken bolt and when I removed the tool the end of the broken bolt came out also. Yes, steap price. That while no 5 stars.

This is the best tool ever!! Follow instruction!!!!
So, a head bolt broke off it a engine block that I'm working on. I broke an extractor off in the stud trying remove the bolt. I spent hours trying to remove the extractor. I thought I was going to have to find a machine shop to burn the extractor and bolt though. I got online and found this rescue bit. I purchased it with disappointed because Amazon show it would take about 10 days to arrive. Two days later it showed up!!!!I opened the package and read all of the instructions. Put the bit in my drill and went to work. (Thinking that there is no way this is going to cut through the extractor.) Little did I know I was wrong, From the second it touched the extractor I saw cuttings. I was amazed. I did clean the bit several times. If you have an extractor broke off in a bolt this is definitely the tool for you, but you must follow simple instructions.
