Okay, so I’ve never done a skincare review before, but I’m going to try to write a review I would want to find before buying something I’m going to put on my face, i.e. super detailed.My skin type: Combination, but also on the sensitive side. Fair skin, early 20s (using for acne, not wrinkle cream, but wrinkle reduction/ glowing skin is an awesome side benefit).Why I bought this: Occasional acne, but mostly deep set blackheads on forehead, nose, chin, plus hormonal acne on the chin. Oh and scars all over my chin/forehead from trying to get at the blackheads for years.How I used it: If you’ve gotten this far into this review, you probably are doing what I did and reading all the reviews on the product before risking a new skincare product on your face (plus spending your money on yet another skin product). Here’s exactly how I used it to get good results, plus other products I used at the same time.First, I only used a pea-sized amount, which I think is very important, and I only used it on my face and earlobes, not on the neck. I’ve been using the product for maybe 6 weeks now which is the amount of time I think the company says to wait to see results (which is why I waited to write the review).Second, I have only been using the product at night, and only use it every other night. For the first week or two I used it only every 2 nights (1 night on, 2 nights off). This seems to be working for me. Because this makes your skin sensitive, especially in the beginning, I use a gentle makeup wipe, then a gentle cleanser (currently “simple” brand) to double cleanse. On the off nights, I use Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Lotion, Face, specifically for “Dry, Extra dry skin” to combat/prevent the peeling (plus on my neck every night). The peeling stopped pretty shortly for me but still occurs if I sleep with makeup on which dries my skin out. Every morning I cleanse again and then use Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 50+ because this is my first time using retinol and it apparently makes your skin extra sensitive to sunlight/UV, plus it’s good to get into the habit of using sunscreen everyday anyways. I stopped using all other products (unless occasional stuff like hydrating masks or rose water spray to help with the drying nature of the retinol) so that I could make sure I was getting (or not getting) results from the new product alone.Results:Like other reviews have said, the first couple weeks can bring peeling, increased sensitivity (I experienced some burning around the eyes, probably because the skin is extra sensitive) which stopped after a couple weeks, and a bit of purging (acne working it’s way to the surface). BUT, now that I’ve been using it for a while, I am so in love with the stuff. I’ve never been one of those people with soft, glowy skin, but didn’t have terrible skin either though. This product has made me notice just how dull my skin was before! The majority of my deep set blackheads have all but disappeared and my skin actually has that dewy look that I always faked with a ton of highlighter. When acne does occasionally pop up, it disappears faster and if I do pick at it, the scars disappear quicker (by the way, I’ve been using COSRX acne pimple master patches during this whole process and I they are amazing, they are like little acne bandaids that blend into the skin well enough I can wear them in public and not have to put a ton of concealer on it, which usually makes it worse. Found them at Urban Outfitters). I also saw wrinkle reduction, even though I’m only in my early 20s. My smile lines have pretty much disappeared, and I’m in the process of getting this stuff for my mom, who’s in her 40s and was interested in trying something for wrinkles.In summary, this is gonna be a staple for me. I feel so confident not wearing foundation now, and because I only use it every other night I can always start using it every night if my skin gets too used to the stuff and I need to up the retinol I use. My hormonal acne still shows up occasionally, but like I mentioned before, the acne clears up faster now. Just as a side note, I’ve also quit eating meat, aside from fish, a few weeks ago and that has made my hormonal break outs a lot smaller so far.I would definitely recommend this product, but just make sure not to confuse initial sensitivity, like I had, for an allergic reaction. I absolutely love this product! The reason why? I’ve finally found something that actually works for my skin. Before using this product, I dealt with hormonal breakouts for almost two years. I went through a variety of treatments, but everything seemed to alleviate my breakouts temporarily and damaged my face in the long run. A few months ago, my skin stsrted to miraculously clear up a little. However, I was still experiencing the after effects of the acne medication I was using. Specifically, my skin was extremely dry. I tried a few drug store moisturizes but they all seemed to make me breakout. Finally, I ran into this moisturizer one night as I was searching for a last hope. I was excited because it has a 5 star rating. Well, I was NOT disappointed. I’ve been using this product for a month now and I am completely satisfied. A week after using it, I saw a difference in my face. I do not see any new blemishes forming, and my skin is as soft as ever. This moisturizer doesn’t leave your face feeling oily. It’s just amazing! However, because it is retinol based, I do recommend starting off with a very tiny bit of product (your skin can become extremely sensitive from it). I use a pea size amount for my face. I started off using it 3 times a week. And now I use it every other day. I love it!

I waited a few weeks before writing this review to give this moisturizer a chance to work. First off it did initially cause some dryness and flaking which was to be expected when starting a retinol treatment. I accidentally got some on my neck and it left red patches, so keep it away from sensitive skin and start off slow! But my skin did adjust and I’ve found the best routine for me is benzoyl peroxide at night and this moisturizer in the morning. I’m in my mid 30’s and suffer from mild to moderate adult acne, plus I also want to fight aging. So far the overall tone of my skin is looking really good, my acne scars have faded and my breakouts are becoming less and less. I think I went through a little purge the first week or so as I broke out more but that seems to have settled down and adding the nightly benzoyl peroxide took care of that fast. Overall I think this is a wonderful product for acne prone and aging skin. I’m happy that I found a skin care routine that’s finally working for me without completely drying out my face. I will continue to use this product!

This was my last resort before going to a derm. I am almost 30 and live in humid florida. For a for a few months prior to starting this cream, was experiencing frequent, painful, and ugly pimples in/around smile lines of my face and along my jaw. After reading reviews for many products similar to this one I decided to go for it. Paying it forward since others' reviews helped me make this decision. It has been my nightly cream, paired with a 2% salicylic acid face wash (johnson and johnson). At the same time of purchase I also put DRMTLGY Daily Anti Aging Facial Moisturizer with Clear Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 45 using Zinc Oxide cream in my order so that I could have a protective cream during the day.I am super satisfied by the resulting changes in the frequency and size of my break outs. The price size and benefits of this cream are great.

I'm 19 and on antibiotics for acne but I'm still dealing with comedonal acne and I was hoping this would help. It is a great moisturizer and my skin feels really soft and smooth where I don't have acne. I've been using it for 18 days so I probably haven't seen the full effects yet, but my comedonal acne has not improved really at all. I'm trying another stronger retinoid and will probably continue to use this moisturizer later on. I think I have sensitive skin and this product did not irritate me at all. Overall I really like it as just a moisturizer but it does not fight my acne the way I wanted it to.
