Works as intended
Works great! Reccomend! Pros: Very sturdy. You can use it as a tiny stool. Holds about 3 days of food and snacks. Cons: it's heavy. It can be hard to open with cold hands.

Great size for short trips - **Bonus tip on Opening**
The BV-425 is perfect for shorter backpacking trips. The size can easily store enough food for a weekend backpacking trip. Bear canisters play an important part in managing the wilderness and leaving no trace. I highly recommend. My scale weighed the canister at 27.45 oz or 778 grams.** Bonus Tip on Opening **This small size of this bear canister makes it the most difficult Bear Vault to open. When opening you need to both hold the bottom of the canister in place and rotate the lid. The small canister reduces the surface area and gripping area to hold onto while opening. Place the Bear Vault between your legs/knees to hold in place. Then take a plastic card (old credit card or used gift card) and place between the canister stopper and the lid nub. Position the card center with the lid nub. Then rotate the lid in a counterclockwise direction. This does take practice and sometimes the plastic card will fall out. I find holding the plastic card with one hand in position and rotating the lid works best for me. Practice is key. When the Bear Canister gets cold (normally in the mornings) you want to have this technique perfected. The cold temperature makes the lid more rigid and difficult to open.Good luck and happy trails!

Good canister for bear country
It's a good canister when you need it, but man oh man, this canister takes up a ton of space in your pack when backpacking. Can hold I'd say up to 3 nights of food/snacks/drinks. I like that it's clear so you can see your stuff inside. Pro tip- use a card that you don't care about to open it up easier- how to is on YouTube

Perfect size
I own the jaunt 450 which is good for a multi-day but overkill for an overnight or even 2 day trip and takes up so much space. The sprint 425 is perfect. It fits nicely in my bag and still fits enough food for me and my dog to eat well at camp.

Perfect!
Love it and for me is pretty darn easy to open so I’m not really sure what other reviewers are doing to make it so difficult. Just follow the instructions that come with it! It opens just like the instructions say it should hence my confusion with other reviews. I did it over and over again and it’s easily every time. Maybe others are tightening too much? I got the smallest one and it is big enough for all of my food for a 1-2 day hiking trip plus room for other stuff like toothpaste and deodorant. I hope a bear never gets close enough to try out its bear-proof-ness but based on other reviews it sounds like it’ll make it through a test.

Good Product
Love the size. Had to purchase for a recent backpacking trip. It was definitely big enough for two nights. I had plenty of room to add my other scented items. This BV425 must be a newer smaller size because several other group members were admiring this one. They also like the size.

Perfect
The perfect size for an overnight hiking trip! Works great! My only warning is it can be difficult to open when your fingers are freezing. But if it were too easy to open, then the bears could get into it
