Several original period costumes are used, each being presented in photos and paintings, with extensive informative text, are then broken down in every detail with photos detailing every part of the costume. Then everything needed to correctly make the costume is given. It has perfectly accurate pattern draughts and superbly clear making illustrations taking you through every process from start to completion. Indispensable.

All I can say is this is a great book massively well illustrated with exploded diagrams and techniques, how I ever managed without it I don't know. If you make historical period consumes or reenactment this is a must have, worth twice what they charge for it.

Fantastic and inspiring, well thought out good explanations, pictures and diagrams.

Disappointing. Far too technical for the average costume designer. Do we really need X Rays of the originals? Definitely only for the historically obsessed.
