Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment - 5L

This oil is absolutely brilliant I paint it on with paint brush it’s very watery but goes on like a dream even though it says it’s clear it does change the colour of the wood , but we love the very rich colour it changes to. It really does work great and makes fence waterproof, I paint it once every 2 yrs and it seems to last well, parts of our fence gets a lot of sun so those panels I paint every year. The tin of oil came well packed in a box covered in bubble wrap and clear plastic wrap, even though there was no damage to box the can was well damaged, first one we have had like that ,and we have bought a lot of it . Would recommend it it’s expensive but very good.

Great product. Works very well and even one coat produces visible results on wood where the water sits on the surface in beads. Apologies for the grainy picture. In the picture the doors are being fitted and are still untreated but the walls have already been treated with 3 coats as described below. You can see the wood goes from a 'white' pine to more of a golden yellow colour Two warnings. 1 The tin states you must use a preservative on the wood first. It recommends this should be barretine universal preserver. I didn't understand that from the amazon listing and had to source a tin of preservative on next day delivery to get my work done on time. Barretine themselves were very helpful, over the phone they helped me understand how best to cover my cabin and helped me find a stockist with preservative as it was sold out almost everywhere online due to covid shortages. They recommended one coat of preservative and 2 coats of treatment. In the end (for a 5x4m cabin inside and out) this ended up being 3/4 of a 5l tin of preservative and about 1 and a half 5l tins of treatment. I'm going to use the last half tin to treat my garden fence. 2 - this stuff is very watery. It flicks, specks and drips everywhere, particularly if used on a roller. It stains wood,concrete, slabs and bricks. I made every effort to cover my slabs and timber sleeper walls in polythene sheets but still have a few specks and blobs which I now can't get out. I've read that soaking the stains in paint stripper will remove them but I haven't tried that yet

Good product easy to apply, although a tad expensive.

Have been using this for my summerhouse. It's easy to apply and covers well. Giving the wood a nice grain and finish.

Use it every year on my larch clad cabin, have used others but this one is the best and gives it excellent protection to the elements for the whole year.

Great product for protecting shed that you don’t want to colour. If you get intense sun on your wood this is what you need. Great price

Good protection from the elements, but does need to be reapplied at least once a year.
