Cat Heaven

My granddaughters cat died and my 4 yr old was so very upset. My daughter in law read her this book and said it really made her feel better… also started a conversation about their loss and gave them some ideas to cope.

We unexpectedly lost a cat and were having trouble helping our barely 4 year old understand. I turned to some books and this one is so sweet. It gave her mental images of her kitty in Heaven hanging out with angels and God. It’s not super religious or anything and I felt encompassing of lots of views. It’s really sweetly written and heart warming. It was good for us parents too.

Is there a male cat version? It refers to the cat as a she over and over throughout the whole book. I didn’t like that.

Cute illustrations. I bought it for myself, and found it helpful in dealing with the loss of my beloved cats. It is things to "keep in mind" or "ways to think of your companion who is no longer on this earth", so you don't quite miss them so much....SPOILER: That they can come back and check in to see how things are going. They can watch their family(child as they go about their living-on). I ended up buying the 'dog version' of the book to see what it would say. I liked it also. I just know: I'd like to believe it is possible.I'm now ready to pass the book on, I think. I used to re-read when I felt down about the loss....better now.

The book is very sweet! I'm just incredibly disappointed that there is 2 large stickers on the front! It is a gift for a friend and I'm crushed that it looks so awful. It wouldn't be so bad if the stickers came off easily but that's not the case.

I love Cynthia Rylant. She has such a talent for writing touching, beautiful children’s books. I bought this for myself when our cat passed away and even though it is a children’s book, it gave me a sense of peace. My adult cousin lost her beloved cat this past December and I sent her copy. She wrote back that while she cried when she read it, it gave her a sense of peace too. This is a wonderful way to send a comforting message of sympathy to anyone, no matter what age, who has lost a cherished feline family member.

We purchased this book for our little boys after the passing of our beloved cat, Blackey Meow. The loss was very hard on our sweet boys and this book was the perfect thing to help during a difficult time. We read it a few times each day initially, and still pull it off the shelf from time to time when we are missing Blackey. It's beautifully written and illustrated and just such a wonderful book. Would also make a great gift to anyone who has lost their cat.

Although this book is primarily written for a young audience who have lost beloved cats, it is equally comforting to adults. I am 56 years old and with my husband of 31 years, rescue sick and abandoned kittens. Although our intent is to foster them until a good home is found, by the time they are well and old enough to be placed, we are too in love with them to send them away. We have, however, lost cats over the years, and the pain never gets easier. We recently lost a youngster (7 months) to drag racers on the street several blocks away. He was the third one who wandered too far to cross that street. We still have 6 cats (the youngest is 3 years and the oldest is 15 years, so our track record is still pretty good). Each loss is equally heartbreaking, regarldless of cause or age of the cat. A friend of mine from work brought me "Cat Heaven" and after crying my eyes out the first time I read it, I now read it frequently because it brings peace and comfort to me and my family. The illustrations are magical, and the reader will no doubt find a cat in there who looks like a kitty they love. We will not stop rescuing abandoned kitties, and we must accept that some of them will leave us. They joy far outweighes the grief, however. This book will forever comfort us and make it possible for us to continue our rescue work. We believe all the kitties we have lost over the years are all together in cat heaven! This was given to someone to help them with the loss of their cats. Very comforting.

My son's cat who was 18 years old, passedaway, and my 6 year old granddaughter was devastated and kept crying. I bought this book, and although it was a bit more expensive from here, in the circumstances I wanted it quickly, it arrived within 2 days. My granddaughter took the book upstairs and read it herself, and it did the trick - briliant, thank you so much.

Bought this for my Grandchildren when their cat died . It really helped them.

Beautiful book I bought it as my beloved coco passed away today age 14, it has given me some comfort thinking of what she is getting up to up there , so thank you

My six year old daughter is very upset that our eldest cat died yesterday. We told her he had gone to live with the angels. She had written him a letter and while she was at school today I put this book by the letter with a little message inside from the cat. She was delighted, it has helped immensely. Thank you, it is a lovely book.
