Usually I write a review when I love something and it's 5 stars, but since I rely on reviews, I thought I should share my experience with anyone considering this product. I'm giving it three stars because it works great for itchy eyes, which is what it promises to do. My optometrist recommended Alaway eye drops and after one use I was wishing I had started using it sooner. Relief from itchy eyes is a beautiful thing. However, a few days later, I started having nosebleeds. I can't remember the last time I had a nosebleed it's been so long, and I don't have any health issues (other than the itchy eyes), so when my nose started bleeding out of the blue, I panicked. My co-worker described it later as "a real gusher." If I had known the cause of the nosebleed was the eye drops I wouldn't have worried so much (although it was pretty dramatic and lasted 20 minutes), but since no one mentioned nosebleeds as a possible side effect, I didn't make the connection until later. My optometrist confirmed that this can happen when anti-histamine drops go into the sinus cavity. This won't happen to everyone, but it's important to be aware. I made the mistake of not looking up the side effects before using Alaway. It didn't occur to me that an over-the-counter eye drop might cause nosebleeds. I've learned the importance of reviewing side effects before using ANYTHING. I should add that I used this product twice a day, once in the morning and once at night without my contact lenses in. Occasionally, I would add an extra drop if the first drop didn't feel substantial enough, which maybe wasn't the best thing to do. Overall, I think this product does what it promises, but side effects happen to the best of us, even when it's just eye drops. I hope this review is helpful.
