First in a Series, now have to wait for the 2nd book!
This is the first book in The Providence Falls series. It is not a stand alone book and ends with a cliffhanger. I wish I knew this before I started reading the book because I really did like it but was disappointed that I now have to wait to see what happens in the next book that has not yet been published. The first romance book I ever read was by Jude Deveraux and I have loved the romance genre ever since. Time travel romances are my favorite and this book falls into that category but not in the traditional way. No one finds themselves thrown into another time period and has to try to find their way back to their own time or has to decide if they want to stay with their true love in a new place. Instead, someone has to correct a wrong from a previous life in order to make the current life a success.Liam O’Connor falls in love with Cora McLeod in 1844 Ireland. She comes from a wealthy family and his family struggles to survive. Cora is promised to another man so their love thwarts the life Cora was intended to have and as a result Liam is barred from entering Heaven until he corrects this and makes Cora fall in love with her intended. Liam tries and fails over a course of lifetimes and is given one last chance in present day America where modern Cora lives. Liam keeps failing because he still loves Cora and has a difficult time trying to make her fall in love with someone else. Two angels are on his case and won’t be happy until Liam succeeds in this mission. Every lifetime that Liam fails to make Cora fall in love with another man Cora ends up dying young. She will meet the same fate in this lifetime as well and Liam will be doomed to damnation. The book goes back and forth in time so we can see how their love unfolds in 1844. I was disappointed when there was a murder investigation thrown in and then the book suddenly ended as a cliffhanger and the second book has yet to be released. Who is the murderer? Do Liam and Cora get to be together after all? Will Liam go to heaven or get to stay on earth with Cora? Questions abound! Despite this disappointment I did enjoy this book. It was light and fun and fast reading. It did not have the feel of past Jude Deveraux books so maybe it is more heavily written by Tara Sheets. I would recommend waiting for the other books in the series to come out so that you can binge read them without interruption.

UGH.
Let me start by saying I'm a HUGE Jude fan. I read my first book of hers under the covers in the dark of night at 9, because my mom had it and I loved to read. I was hooked. I've read everything she's ever written and own all of her books (yes, even the first two that are hard to find), multiple copies of several.BUT...If I had wanted a romance about roommates that occasional fought with passion and had no physical contact, that left me befuddled, bewildered, and unsatisfied, I would have stayed in my first marriage.I guess I miss when Jude was the only voice in Jude's books. Dump Tara and bring back my Jude!Normally, I pre-order and read her books in 4 hours, then re-read them all several times a year. Not this one. It took me weeks to read and will go on the shelf untouched. I'll probably buy the sequel, just because I'm a fan and the characters are likeable, but I won't enjoy the process like I usually do.#imissjudealone

Good reading
I really enjoyed reading this book, Ive read every book Jude Deveraux has written and Ive loved every single one. But very dissapointed the story didnt finish and lead into another book. Usually book 2 picks up another character from book 1.

Enchanting tale!
Jude Deveraux & Tara Sheets weaved an enchanting storyline with Angels and an occasional pop into previous lives of an adorable modern daycouple weaved with an intriguing murder mystery. Headed to read book #2 right now and I am looking forward to book #3 in late October 2022!!

Just what I needed right now!
Contrary to many of the reviews I have read about this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it!! I liked the mystical air about it, the characters, and I am looking forward to the next. Maybe it is kind of unbelievable, but so what? There's enough going on in the world today that I will gladly take some fantasy in a book. I don't need more reality-I can turn on the news for that. Yes, it leaves you hanging a bit and wanting more. But I didn't mind that in this case. If I could, I would preorder book 2 right now!! So if that means I have bad taste, too bad!!

Different reading from Jude than b I'm used to reading
It's so different from what I'm used to reading in Jude and Devereux 's books. Still trying to see what I think.

Fell flat
Deveraux is one of my favorite writers which is why I was so disappointed by this book. All through the book you get only bits and pieces. By the end of the book you're left scratching your head. You get no real answers, nothing is solved, and you're left with a feeling of, "What the heck". I'm guessing there will be additional books. I suggest holding off until all are released. Although as poorly as this book was written, I'm not sure I'll waste time on the 2nd book. I suggest Deveraux kicks the other writer to the curb and go back to writing books on her own.

Not worth buying the sequel
I normally like her books but this one was a highway to nowhere. I won't be buying the sequel.

Disappointing to say the least
The first book I read from Jude Devereaux was A Knight in Shining Armour and I love, love, loved it. This book is nowhere near the same quality of writing. And what the heck kind of ending is this, obviously they want it to continue into another book but I doubt I’ll buy it.I’m wondering if Deveraux put her name on this book to help promote a new author.

Not so bad, stop being so tightfisted with your money spent
i'am a madly huge fan of Jude Deveraux, i nearly cry with joy when i receive one of her books, and i would be ready to pay double for each of them, reading is so much better than anything else you can do for relaxing - (although this particular author is a definite career-breaker and marriage unbalancer- as I spend so many nights reading her and barely standing on semi automatism in the morning), and OK,this book is different, much slower, i liked it, so i could put it down, and the details were a bit more down to earth which is funny when you don't live in USA, and I was reaching the end of the book, wondering how it could possibly end in so few pages left... I am not disappointed, I love sequels, I loved Liam and the angels, I just wish someone would correct the silly assumption that one week or even one month of roommate rent makes a difference in buying a real House! (sorry Miss D.)
