The media could not be loaded.  A child’s metal detector, in a vivid lime green. It comes with a full sized trowel, rather large for a young child I feel, but rather that than a small useless child’s one. Unfortunately there was no advertised rake included.It requires 2 AA batteries and these are included, so you can use straight out of the box.The handle of the detector is extendable from approximately 64 cm(25in) to 81cm(32in), to suit your height and comfort while using it. It also has a strap to secure it to your wrist.The depth it can detect to is approximately 10-15cm (3-6in) below the surface, the LCD screen shows 2 detection states DETECTING and TARGETING with the help of pictures, when any metal is picked up by the detector you will also hear a "beep", and the closer you get to it, the louder the “beep”. The smiley found picture didn’t display that well, when the coils went over the test coin, so best to just listen out for the “beep”.The detector looks well made and robust, it’s also waterproof so can be used on the beach or in rivers, all be it in shallow water though.The detectors coils will pick up any metal object, but unfortunately cannot differentiate between ferrous and nonferrous metals, or precious and non precious. But it is a great introduction for children who go out with family and friends metal detecting, as it’s lightweight (approximately 1.5lbs) and easy for children to handle and move around from side to side.My granddaughter loves going out in the garden looking for things, she’ll now be able to join us on the beach and her other grandparents who are avid detectorists.

A fun toy for young children with adult supervision sums this up. I usually do an Easter Egg hunt each year in my garden which is fairly large and this year because I had this I changed from the usual hunt to a treasure map with a bit of detectoring and digging.My wife bought some plastic eggs that you can fill which in this case I did with £1 coins and some nuts and bolts to ensure a good level of metal. I buried them around 50mm into the ground and set my grandchildren to it once I'd given them the map and instructions on use.And it's simple. You have one 'On' button which brings up a very simple screen which has a smiley face when you get close to the buried metal. There is a sounder as well to add to the information and dare I say it excitement.The detector uses two AA batteries so you can take from that that this isn't a very powerful tool so you aren't going to find Roman coins three feet deep.It comes with a quite sturdy hand trowel that's actually better than many you might buy in a local garden centre. It's got a scale on it as well so you can see how deep you have dug.Assembly of the unit requires you to plug in the coiled lead from the detector head to the top control unit and then push the detector tubes together. Simple to do although adult help would be needed.Overall, we had great fun with this and my grandchildren were so excited by the idea of finding buried things they took it to the beach the next day.

The media could not be loaded.  As far as kids metal detectors go this is perfectly functional for all those young aspiring treasure hunters!It’s easy to piece together although I was a little confused with the coil slotting into the other metal pipe and using the green twisty bit to tighten it up… I thought you could adjust the height using this but you have to push the pipe attached to the coil all the way into the other pipe so it connects the coil to the battery supply.It’s a good height and comfortable to hold for little ones… my 3 and 6 year old sons were using it no problem.The display is very simple and just shows the battery life and a simple animation along with a one tone beep if a metal object is encountered.The advert claims it can detect objects 10 - 15 cm below the service… maybe like if it was a big highly conductive type item but just doing a simple test of placing some coins / rings on the carpet and hovering the metal detector above them I can confirm that for small objects the limit was about 4cm.We took it for a spin in the garden and managed to find an old style pound coin, a two pence piece, an old toothpaste tube, a screw and some random junky bits of metal.It comes with a plastic trowel for digging.

This isn’t a detective which is hard to use once you’ve built it which is easy to do. Just locate a five pin plug female to male and tighten up the screw adapter connect the extension rod by removing the screw and then re-tighten the screw and then select the length you want the detectors it be in jobs done then it’s just a case of using a detector which is a simple on off button you got a bleep when it’s on And you don’t hear a bleep again until the detector runs over some metal. It isn’t the deepest metal finder but it does find metal quite easily. I really enjoy it and I’m an adult. My nephew is absolutely over the moon cannot get him to put it down. You find it easy to operate, which I think is fantastic. Overall very pleased .However, it says it comes with a trowel and fork, but no fork which is disappointing. Would you be handy for sand?
