Beautiful trade paperback.
I recall the first time I heard one line of Whitman's Song of Myself : "I sound my barbaric yawp over the rootops of the world!!!" And from Whitman came so many, to me the closest was Allen Ginsberg. My dear Grandfather was Allen's Father Louis' best friend and I met Allen a few times. The first time I read the opening Stanza of Howl my head opened up to not only Whitman's "Barbaric Yawp" but to the essence of a Poem. My band came from these two giants and we put music to my poems and named the band, The Howl. A terrible thing happened and that's all I'll say about me. Great volume this book. With a photo of Whitman which I somehow never saw. A jaunty, handsome young 'bohemian' , the first Wave. If you're considering buying this...well you understand my feelings about it.

Poem
I bought both the Hardcover and paperback. Hardcover goes to my library, paperback I carried around with me to read. I’m pretty hard on my books. Great book to read when you’re having coffee or on a break.

for Whitman Buffs
I believe this is the complete and latest edition of Leaves, clearly at the price point. remember, his Leaves was a work in progress in that over the years he kept adding his works.
