Great toast.
This item replaced one made by the same manufacturer. It is well constructed simple to use and clean. The last one lasted for 17 years!!!!

Easy to use and super quick!
This is our second unit, as first unit had broken crumb tray, which Amazon replaced with no quibble (as ever!), this unit is so easy to use and quick to toast, compare with my previous toaster. Also brought Dualit Classic Kettle to match, and great design, being finished in stainless steel!

Expensive but good
Expensive compared to other brands but far more substantially built and all parts are repairable or replaceable which gives it a far longer “life expectancy” than other brands

To stop it toasting
Solidly made toaster. Simple functionality but the only way to cancel the toasting timer is to forcibly turn the clockwork timer to zero. Surely, they could have added a cancel button or something similar?

very good. I suspect folks just don't read the instructions
My last Tefal toaster lasted . . . errh well, 30 years actually. I bought it with a £10 gift voucher that I received when I bought a Panasonic TV in the mid eighties. It was never any trouble, right up until . . . .I bought this because the simplicity appealed and the made in the UK badge - what with BREXIT etc, we have to support our own, don't we!! ;-)1. Uniformity of toasting. Is . . very good. I suspect folks just don't read the instructions. If you toast one slice, you stick it in the left slot and select the "one side" button. If you toast two slices, it's one in each and you select the "both" button. If you don't, your toast won't be done evenly, will burn or be undercooked - I don't know which because I haven't tried it. Let's face it, you don't need to be Einstein or Madame Curie to work this one out!!!2. Timer Failures. . . It appears that in time, the timers can fail but hey ho, you can get another one for a few quid and unless you're a total clutz, fit it yourself in no time at all - the same applies to the elements and apart from that, there is nothing to go wrong. So . . if your timer sticks, sure - the element won't switch off and ultimately, you're toast is onward bound for a trip to St Peter after a brief encounter with the crematorium but come on nowa. The timer ticks an buzzes like an angry wasp and if it stops, you're going to hear it. If you're in another room at the time then more fool you.b. If the timer does stick, then raise the toast and remove it.c. Contrary to the assertions of some, there is an overheat cutout inside the toaster so that if it gets too hot, it will trip out. If this happens, you need to delve into the recesses of your toolbox and retrieve your screwdriver in order to remove one or two screws, find the thermostat and press the reset button - job done. I suspect that this might trip if the unit has been used repeatedly for some time and/or if some toast catches fire but would most likely only trip after the toast has been ablaze for a few seconds and not before. The instructions do say to disconnect from the mains supply when not in use - overkill in my opinion. As long as the timer has zeroed and the element tripped out, there is no way it's going to fire up again - this will only be an issue if the timer jams whilst toasting and thus the elements stay on.Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase but . . it is only a toaster when all said and done. It does the job it's designed for. You can service and replace all the parts yourself but if you leave it cooking toast whilst you go to Lesbos on holiday then, in one in ten thousand occasions, it might just catch fire and so, don't go to Lesbos, stay in the kitchen!!

Unlike any other toaster
This is a pleasing piece of design and manufacture that looks as if it hasn't changed since the 50s. Two burly stainless steel end panels bookend a comparatively delicate bent sheet metal casing, all fastened together like an old aircraft. The switchgear is fantastically utilitarian. The controls work independently of eachother. The heating element is operated by a timer, not a thermostat. The lever that lifts the toast works off a simple pivot and is decoupled from the electrics. There is a switch that controls the number of active heating elements; saving energy when the toaster is running at less than full capacity. There's not much that can go wrong here. And if it does, it'll be repairable. This is an indulgent purchase and hard to justify. It does the same job as toasters 1/10 the cost. I feel guilty for having spent so much on it, but this feeling should fade over the decades of service this lovely toaster will give.
