Daylight in a can!
I have a number of Sofirn torches but the Q8 Plus is the biggest and brightest I currently own. The interface uses Anduril 2 which is pretty intuitive to use once you have get used to it and can also be switched to "Advanced Mode" giving many more options if you require. The casing is well made from aircraft grade aluminium with a grippy texture - useful as the torch is a little on the heavy side but that is to be expected all things considered. It is also IPX8 rated meaning it can withstand the worst of British weather without issue. It has a single button for operation and a USB-C port for charging the batteries (which are removable) that also doubles up as a power-bank for charging your mobile (or whatever) - a nice feature! Note: The power-bank feature is UCB-C to USB-C charging only. The light is a cool white light with plenty of splash and a reasonable soft hotspot in the centre giving the light a decent throw. The light levels go from moonlight (very nice for map reading or when your eyes have adjusted to the dark and not ruining your night vision) to Turbo - or as my wife calls it - the "OMG mode"! The turbo mode has to be seen to be believed and lights up your vicinity like daylight. The downside to this kind of light is that it will drain the batteries much quicker but also cause the torch to heat up rather rapidly. The torch will step down the light level after a short period of time (around 30 to 45 seconds depending on ambient temperature) to protect itself and your hand from overheating but it will still give out a very useable beam. I tend to use the light on a more medium setting for the most part and just turbo it for clarity when required. This is not a torch that will fit into an average pocket and you will certainly feel the weight if it's in a backpack or bag but if instant daylight is what you're after then this light will deliver. Yes there are brighter torches available (and probably bigger and heavier and certainly much more expensive) but for a "useable" powerful torch I think the Q8 plus fits the bill very nicely.

Great flashlight, but tint choice matters
The Q8 Plus is an excellent light – solid build, very powerful, and Amazon delivered it the next day. The version I bought here is cool white, which looks bright and piercing. That’s why cool white is often used in police and tactical lights – it gives that strong, intense beam. The downside is that in rain or fog it can create more glare, and colours don’t show as naturally. I’ve recently started getting into flashlights and learning the differences. Neutral white, which I later tried, has a beam that’s softer on the eyes, with much better colour accuracy. It’s more comfortable for camping, walking at night, or fishing, while still being just as bright overall. Both tints perform the same in terms of runtime and output, but neutral white is simply more practical for my use. It would be nice if Amazon offered the option to choose tint, since here you only get the cool white version that’s in stock. I’ve also found that ordering from other places doesn’t always take as long as you’d expect, and in some cases you can even contact support directly to make small changes to your order. That flexibility isn’t really an option with Amazon. If you’re fine with cool white and want instant delivery plus easy returns, this version is still a fantastic choice.

Outrageously good
Like a small sun in the dark. Outrageous really. Comes with 3 big batteries 21700s. You can make gradual adjustments or step adjustments for brightness. At full brightness you need gloves cos it gets hot. Doubles as a phone battery pack nicely. Well built and solid. No focus adjustment but you also don’t need it. It’s overkill but nice being able to warm my hands while making daylight

Daylight in Your Hand
his thing is ridiculous – in the best way. It’s incredibly bright, has great build quality, and could probably signal the space station if aimed right. Battery life is solid for the power it outputs, and the mode options are easy to cycle through. Also doubles as a power bank, which is a smart touch. Not exactly pocket-sized, but perfect for camping, blackouts, or pretending you're in a zombie movie. If this lit the way for you, give “Helpful” a click.

Good and not so good.
This is a well made, easy to use powerful torch that can produce an amazing amount of light for short periods. It has a green glow in the button which makes it easy to find in the dark. It does hold a steady level on medium without throttling back. I ran it for a 3.5 hour test on medium including 6 bursts on turbo for less than 30 seconds each time. It does get warm but on medium it was pleasantly warm on a cold 7°C morning. The not so good, it doesn't come with any form of lanyard or holster and you will need to provide your own using the standard 1/4" thread. I've just used a camera adapter which was £3.99 from Amazon. For me the most annoying thing is it's relatively short length meaning if you have man sized hands your last couple of fingers will overlap the bottom with no where to go. It comes supplied with Sofin brand batteries. I ran a full test on all 3, the results are in the photo. None matched the specifications but I thought they were acceptable. After 3.5 hours of use I put the batteries back in my smart charger to measure expecting them to be around 50% but as you can see they were all well under 30% I need a torch to run for 4 hours so it's OK for my needs, however if you need to rely on it running for the claimed time you may want to do your own test when you receive it.
