It's a hard case, not a ridged case, but still brilliant.
I have two of these cases, and they transport a laptop and a portable screen. The cases are well constructed and are really durable, however the cases do have some give in them (i.e. you can press them in in the middle).I personally think it's a compromise, if you wish to have an unbending case then you require a ridged box, or the Pelican Rucksacks (which I also have).One of my cases has saved my laptop from drops on a number of occasions over the years, so I'm very happy with them.Also word of caution: the cases come with straps, if you are using the straps over your shoulder, do make sure that you have the latch on the case securely closed! It's the only time I've dropped a laptop, fortunately on to a sofa so it was not as bad as it could have been!
