One word: Moved
I've read books like this before (adults from abusive childhoods who emerge successful in the end) so I thought I knew what kind of journey this book would take me on....I was wrong! I would have to say for at least 3/4 of this book it was pure hell, turmoil and a continuous downward spiral that had me thinking about Cupcake's story every time I closed the book to go to bed wondering "When are things going to get better? Because they can't possibly get any worse" but it seems they always did. If I didn't know of Cupcake's status now I would'nt have believed that by the 'dumpster' part that she could have ever have made it to where she is today. I think it really helped me to see from an addicts point of view of how they don't believe they have a problem. To people who are not addicted to drugs or alcohol you might think like me "Look at how they are and what they're doing to themselves. How do they not see that they have a problem?" but this book really shows you how warped someones thinking can be when they are on those kinds of drugs. Anyway, to finish, this book is an absolutely heart wrenching, emotional journey that will draw you in on her lowest of lows but also have you appreciative and grateful and show you that no matter what you are going through or what you are nothing is impossible

Inspiring and emotional read
This is one of my all time favourite books, I love the way the author writes it how she speaks so don’t expect perfect grammar. Amazing story but harrowing too, couldn’t put it down.

THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!!!
The title says it all to me, whenever someone asks me, what is your favourite book, this is what I tell then "A Piece of Cake, by Cupcake Brown". I read this book for the first time 6 years ago and have read it twice since, I only wish it was available on Kindle so I could read it again. To understand the entirity of Cupcake's story you MUST finish until the end. This is a story of a young girl who, once her mother passed away, did not have it easy and then did not make it easy on herself, however her strength and determination always shines through the story, although not in a positive way in many parts, but that strength and deteremination is quite simply what saves her in the end. I only wish that, like a movie when you know something bad is going to happen and you don't want it to, what would her life have been like if her mother had not died, but then would she be the person she is today. I will finish this review as I started by saying, THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!

Worthwhile
Certainly a moving and inspiring read. Books of this genre that I have read in the past I have found too upsetting, and while this is a harrowing read, I'm glad I did and felt uplifted by the end rather than just depressed!Yes the writing could be better, but I think I can cut her some slack on that point, she isn't a best selling writer, she just has an incredible story to tell. The writing is very fast paced, most of the time, and it was this that allowed me to finish it quickly, but somehow at the same time it is long winded. There's a lot of drugs, alcohol, get evicted, find new job, repeat and I did find myself wondering when the low point was going to come that she would turn her life around! Was a relief when I got there! I found the part about gangs the most tiresome, too many characters, too much talk about getting high, too many street words that I didn't understand.I did really enjoy the end, her strength of character really shines through. I loved that the advice she gets from her sponsor, and the 12 step meetings weren't just to overcome addiction, but to become a better person. Valuable life lessons for all of us.All in all, a good read, a brave author, in my opinion could have been 100 or so pages shorter.

Inspiring is too weak a word for this work
The book is AMAZING beyond belief. It was harrowing to read the abuse this woman went through to become the success that she is today. I laughed, I welled up, I flinched and sometimes I had to close the book and reflect on what I'd just read. Its so hard for us in sheltered England to understand a "hard life", but this book is the epitome of just that, she made it easy for me to understand the needing to belong that drew her into gang life, it was so detailed I felt as if I she was actually talking to me, as an old friend.I don't know about anyone else, but all the way through I wondered how on earth she'd made it to adulthood, the things she experienced before she hit teenage years would have killed me or the soul I have within long before... she is a remarkable woman, I'm proud to say I've read her story.Bless up Cupcake x

Great book
This book was really good, each paragraph had more action- never dry - all my pages are curled cause I carried with me everywhere until it was done- warning contains abuse, sexual abuse and drug use - it’s not a story about cake...

Krasse Story
