Clearly effective
It’s important to understand the common side effects associated with levonorgestrel, the active ingredient in this emergency contraception: potential bleeding, nausea, abdominal pain, or headaches. These symptoms are a standard reaction to the hormone itself, not a specific flaw of this brand. This generic option contains the exact same FDA-approved active ingredient, levonorgestrel, found in other name-brand drugstore pills that can cost $50 or more. The severity of side effects can vary each time you take emergency contraception. If your symptoms feel milder this time compared to a previous experience with a more expensive brand, rest assured it isn’t because this pill is "weaker." It's simply how your unique body is reacting to the hormone during this specific menstrual cycle. Don't let the significantly lower price point fool you; the active ingredient is identical across all reputable brands. Per My Girlfriend, this product is a fantastic, affordable, and reliable generic option that gets the job done. My order arrived. The instructions were easy to follow, and the product was effective. Personally, I didn’t experience any major side effects, just mild drowsiness for a few hours. I highly recommend this as an effective and budget-friendly choice.

Four Reasons to Ignore any One-Star Reviews - #3 is a MUST-READ
Hey, can we be honest with each other? You can basically ignore every review for this pill that's rated less than five stars. And I'll tell you exactly why. Because the reasons are quite simple. 1. SIDE EFFECTS: If you take this pill, there's a chance you'll get side effects if you take this. Out of every 10 women who take this pill, at least one of you may get irregular bleeding. Or possibly nausea. Or maybe pain in your abdomen. You might even get a headache. But what so many people don't realize is that these are all common side effects to taking levonorgestrel. The side effects I mentioned have NOTHING to do with this specific brand of pill. But has everything to do with with the active ingredient. It's the same exact ingredient, in the same exact dose, as every Plan B pill sold online or in stores. Sometimes the side effects are bad, but sometimes they wont be. Just because they weren't as bad as the time someone took one of those $50 drugstore pills, it doesn't mean they were bad this time, because they went with a new brand. 2. Same Ingredients as a $50 Pill: I'll try not to name the #1 brand you see in stores. Because I don't want to get this review flagged somehow by mentioning another name brand. But the two tablets are basically identically. The active ingredient in this Amazon Basic Care brand tablet is 1.5mg of levonorgestrel. Okay, so what about that popular pill sold in stores? Active ingredient is also 1.5mg of levonorgestrel. And the inactive ingredients are pretty much the same. So what does that mean to you when you take this pill? It means that one pill is going to work no better and no worse than the other. The potential side effects each brand lists is even the same. And that's because it's pretty much the same exact pill. 3. No plan b pill is guaranteed 100% effective. There is not a single plan b pill on Amazon that is 100% guaranteed to keep you from getting pregnant after you take it. I don't care what the brand is. Want to know why that is? There are two very big reasons. The first reason is timing. According to the National Institute of Health, levonorgestrel is normally 89% effective if taken correctly within 72 hours of the first time you do something that could get you pregnant. If you're mid-cycle and take it IMMEDIATELY, it can be closer to 92 to 98% effective. Some factors can actually make taking it only 50% effective. In other words, there's a chance that every 1 out of 10 women who take any pill from any brand can still get pregnant. That's why every brand tell you that the pill REDUCES your chances of getting pregnant. And it does reduce those chances. But it's just not guaranteed. And finally, one other big issue when it comes to how effective this medicine can be.... YOUR WEIGHT MAY JUST AFFECT HOW WELL THIS PILL WORKS So I'm not a scientist, nor a doctor. But it just so happens that not all scientists agree 100% on this, or how big a difference your weight can play. But one study in particular found that women who weigh over 155 lbs, or happen to have a BMI over 25, may not get the full benefits of Plan B. There were different studies done that suggested the higher your Body Mass Index, the more fat your body has, the less effective your body will be when it comes to metabolizing levonorgestrel. In other words, if you're a BBW (for example), this pill may not work as well for you as a woman that's 5'8" and weighs 120 pounds. Some studies suggested that it works about 6% less if you weigh 155. Others studies even say it may not work at all, for bigger women. Which is why some women with a BMI over 25 may take one pill immediately, then another pill 12 hours later. BUT PLEASE SPEAK WITH YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT THIS, as I'm neither a physician nor a trained medical expert. I can only say that it's generally thought that these pills are less effective, the higher your BMI. Long story short, your weight plus the time that you take a pill like this can impact how likely it will be at preventing a pregnancy. Those reviewers saying that they took this pill and still got pregnant, we'll honestly never know all of the details involved (how soon after they took it, if they had sex more than one time, how long ago their last period was, or how much they weight). 4. GREAT PRICE. So you can go to the store and spend $35 to $50 on a name-brand pill. Or, you can just buy this Amazon Basic Care brand one for $20 or less (there's usually a few coupon options that can drop the price almost in half for Amazon Prime members). If you now know that the ingredients are the same, I can't imagine why you'd want to spend $30 or $40 more than you have to. You can even play it extra safe and buy two pills, and you'd still be paying less than what a generic pill would cost at a drugstore. SHOULD YOU BUY THIS PILL? For emergency reasons, why wouldn't you buy it? Every pill like this on Amazon is going to have negative reviews. And you'll always see the same two complaints: 1. The person who took it still got pregnant, 2. The side effects they experienced were bad. Which means 1. They assumed the name brand pill works 100% of the time, which no brand will ever claim. 2. Those reviewers ignored the list of possible side effects literally printed on the package plus mentioned on the web pages for the product. EVERY levonorgestrel pill here always lists the same eight possible side effects. Why? Because they're all the exact same active ingredient. Look, when you're done reading this, add one one of thse to your shopping cart. Or do what we did, order two of them. They're affordable. That way if you need a little bit more peace of mind, you can potentially take two back-to-back (if your doctor or OBGYN okays it). Or take just one, and then keep the second one tucked away in a safe place. Just in case of emergency. That way if you actually need one again, you're not stressing out, waiting for it arrive in the mail. You're not having to drive around to different stores in your area, seeing who even still has them in stock at $30 to $50 a pill. You also don't have to get special assistance from a store employee to have them unlock one of those clear locked cases, to remove it for you (it's obviously a private thing you probably don't want to share with the whole store). Order it online right now, check out, and it will be on its way in a couple days in a regular mailer (there's even a same-day mail option for certain customers depending on how much you spend on Amazon at one time today). And no one will have any idea what's actually in the package or envelope. Keep your privacy, and get some peace of mind you deserve in the process. We trust this product, and I wouldn't recommend it if I wasn't familiar with how it works.

It works and I'm happy!
I got the Amazon Basic Care levonorgestrel and it arrived quickly, sealed, and exactly as described. I followed the instructions on the box, and everything turned out fine — I’m not pregnant. I didn’t have any major side effects either, just felt a little tired afterward. For the price, it’s a solid generic option with the same ingredient as the brand name. Straightforward, affordable, and easy to use. I'm not pregnant! So yay! No bad aftertaste! Clearly effective, negative pregnancy test then period was only one day late!

It is a useful resource for unexpected situations and gives peace of mind to have it available when needed. I had no strong side effects and it met what was expected. It is definitely something worth having on hand as a backup.
