What is the maximum that this box can withstand?

It's OK, I wouldn't throw it around with anything too heavy inside. I use mine for camping - it's full off cooking stuff. It stops in my shed until required and then in the back of the Land Rover when needed. I did have the idea that it could be used as a seat, but it's not strong enough to take an adults weight.

Need to take abroad does this come flat packed or made up please?

It comes made up by honestly speaking mine seems to be a defective one coz I hadn't had it two minutes and took it upstairs EMPTY and the corner gave way. and I am still yet to have a reply from seller
