The security gate is very good except that it is a fiddle to attach into the brackets when pulling the screen across. It's a pity the screen doesn't lock halfway across so that both hands could be used to attach into the resting brackets. Retracts easily into main screen holder and you don't have any metal frame obstruction on the floor.Jonathon Hunt

It was a good looking gate, but it wouldn't fit where I needed to. I wanted this for the top of the stairs, sadly the skirting rail gt in the wat as it wouldn't be a flat surface. I didn't take it above as it is an old house with large stairway skirting boards so the gap below would be too big to be safe. I like the item, it looked good, but didn't work for what I wanted.

The media could not be loaded.  A retractable stair gate is a great idea but this product has some serious shortcomings. A knob on the top of the cassette has to be turned and held while the screen is pulled out. Pulling the screen out requires quite a lot of mussels power, which is an increasing challenge the further you pull it out, while holding the knob with your other hand of cause. The instructions correctly say that the screen needs to be pulled from the centre. Yet the handle is at the top. The retainers seem robust but are poorly designed. The top one is slightly too small for the bar of the screen to slide into, so requires and extra push. Meanwhile, the fixings holes haven't been countersunk, although countersunk screws are supplied. This means the fixing screws don't sit flush, causing a further obstacle to getting the bar in.It is claimed that the gate can be opened one-handed. This isn't true. As the screen can't be pulled out of the cassette without turning and holding the knob – which you have to do in order to get enough slack to unhook it from the brackets – thus it becomes a two-handed operation.I will be attempting to return this, as my family (all age 16+) find this too difficult to use, especially at night, when you are trying to be as quiet as possible.

Looks nice and good quality, but very stiff to close and definitely not a one hand job. You have to twist the release button while pulling the gate closed and even then it is very stiff.

So hard to pull out you need 2 hands as its so difficult it retracts so unevanly for the money i paid its a rip off
