Explorer B99 Multicam Tactical Backpack

If this bag was mil-spec I'd give it the 5th star. Other than that it's quite a nice bag. Holds a lot of gear, feels comfy around the waist and I love the pouches on the exterior of the pack so I don't have to open the whole bag just to grab one little thing. I keep my firestarting gear, hat, med gear, maps, etc. all in their own special place on the exterior and never have to unstrap the bag and unzip the main compartment. Even though it's not heavy duty mil-spec it seems to be holding up quite well. As an off-grid homesteader and avid outdoorsman I can say I honestly do not baby my gear, either. I want to know it will hold up. So there ya' go.

The good: Lots of compartmentalized storage, seams are well done, well sized.The bad: the item page shows a handgun being placed in the waistbelt pouch which initially looks like a great way to carry when out hiking. Those pouches wrap around your kidney area, so good luck getting to your firearm without dropping your pack or becoming a twister expert. Secondly, those side pouches on the belt are not movable and need to CURVE around your kidney area. You do NOT want to try and carry something hard and non flexible digging into your kidneys all day. This thing is sizable, and lacking any sort of rigid support, will lead to a sagging pack that is very difficult to get to ride comfortably. I can't imagine doing a multiday hike like I often do here in FL with a sagging shifting load riding on me. Returned it after loading it and walking around the house for a few minutes. This just won't work for my purposes.An unobtrusive internal frame system like what's on a BFM and movable belt pouches would make this well worth the money. As is, it's a no go at this station.

First off..THIS NOT A MILITARY GRADE BACKPACK! The material, zippers, shoulder straps, etc are not made for daily, rugged use. I do not recommend this as your primary bug out bag.. All that said, its a decent hiking pack and would work well for easy (treestand type) hunting..I carry mine as a day pack and carry odds and ends plus a pistol and ammo in it.It has ample pockets and plenty of storage for outdoor activities as well. For military types, the stiff plastic insert from a military assault pack would work great to add rigidity. As long as you understand what your getting, this is a good (not great) pack.

Not having a frame makes this a bit difficult to carry long distances, but if you're wearing something rigid like a plate carrier, it fits better. The pockets are amazing, and I think I'm going to put some kind of tag on each pocket for quick reference. Nice deal for a secondary bag. I think I'm going to buy the Eberlestock line next for my primary bag, though. Maybe the Gunslinger.

After reading prior reviews, I comtimplated the cons, there wasn't any that were of concern for me. They were minor so I ordered and it was exactly what I expected. Plenty of Mille webbing to add sacs/pouches of choice. I am now looking for some. Unfortunately this company does not carrying them. There's plenty of room for what's needed for either a B.O.B. Bag ; long hikes; extended camping. Empty it's comfortable weight. Which is good because your not starting out with a bag THATS heavy before even starting to fill.

great stability, great utility and very lightweight for what it has. I use this as my day pack and can fit all of my essentials in it (including a tent, sleeping bag, extra clothing and multi-day survival gear... fits very comfortably and offers a lot of utility... great bang for the buck....especially if you are carrying pistols, because the side chest pockets can hold up to a .45... little bit of a tight fit....but it works....

The manufacturer said that all the packs were made exactly the same. There isnt a conceal carry pouch in the waistband the pockets and puches on the multi camo pack are in completely different places than the other colors. Opened the box thinking it was the same style as the others such as the black, green, brown ect....but it was a totally different design so disappointed!!!!!
