Mostly good but requires attention
I have extremely dry cuticles and this gets the job done much better than a typical buffer or file. The shape is great, and makes it very easy to slough off the dead skin right next to your nail, where a nail file or buffing block can't reach. I recommend dipping it in water and using it wet for greatest effect. However, it has a couple of drawbacks. It's very slow to use and takes a lot of back and forth to get a smooth surface. Well worth the effort, but not a quick fix. At the same time, the squared-off edges make it very easy to remove too much skin in one area if you aren't careful. Unlike a typical rounded pumice, these edges are sharp! I accidentally created bleeding cracks on two separate fingers where the edge rubbed too deeply against my finger as I was trying to smooth out the surface. To avoid this, I'd recommend filing slowly and in a circular, rather than up and down motion.

The BEST cuticle eraser.
I have what I'd describe as "aggressive" cuticles -- they require pushing back and tend to be a bit messy. An orange stick (wooden) cuticle pusher does nothing, and the metal ones aren't effective at removing the dead bits of cuticle. This stone cuticle pusher is hard to find, but highly effective. What works best for me: soak nails in water (with a bit of oil or soap) for a few minutes, then push back cuticles, using this tool to "scrub" the nails to remove the dead bits of cuticle. Use cuticle nippers to remove hangnails but do NOT trim the cuticles (causes awful peeling cuticles a few days later). Apply oil and massage into the nails. This, done once a week, has given me very lovely fingers. One small note: like a glass nail file (you should also get one of those!), these stone tools are fragile. If you drop it on a hard surface, it can break, so be careful!

glad to find several on amazon
works! i wanted a tiny pumice for my toenail cuticles but wasn't sure if such a thing existed; glad to find several on amazon. of course i immediately dropped it on the bathroom ceramic tile and broke it in half, but that is my fault- can't really change the nature of pumice. so now i have two, half-size pumice cuticle sticks that work just fine! the most effective method for me is using it in the shower when cuticles are soft.

it's just what I needed
The item I received is thicker than the one shown in the picture. It's square -- as thick as it is wide. I would have preferred it to be thinner, but I think that sacrifices strength. It is very finely grained pumice, so it's very gentle. It does the job on the thickened skin around my fingernails.

Why didn’t I know this existed!
I love this! Beware of getting overzealous with it though. The outer edges of my nails have a bit of a ridge around them from rubbing over the nail as opposed to just the cuticles.

Great for between salon trips
I had something like this given to me long ago, and I LOVED it... used it for a great many years without realizing that I could get another one... after reading a bunch of reviews (as I always do), I purchased this one, and it does a great job. I find myself cutting cuticles less and just using this eraser.

great cuticle tamer
Good product. Easy to use to keep cuticles in control bw manicures. Price a bit higher than in beauty store but convenience factor ruled

OK product
I was trying to replace a lost eraser. This one is rougher than my lost one so it scratches the nail while "erasing" cuticle.
