Lovely lights
I had some of these for nearly 20 years but the white shades had become too brittle to mend any more. I was hoping I could just replace this part with the new shades but unfortunatley the lugs on these are different. These are quite simple to put together and install, although you need to install the transformer and plug inside, which means drilling a hole, and you have to make sure that the prongs are in exactly the right place to puncture the cable which can be fiddly, otherwise they wont light up. You can position the lights anywhere on the cable run and they are very safe as they are only 12 volts. Once installed they are very good and look nice even when not lit. I have mine on a plug in timer. I find these much better than solar lights as they work consistently, whatever the weather, even in winter.

Much better than solar lights
Bought these to replace a similar set which were damaged by building work. These used to be available in DIY stores, but hard to avoid the ubiquitous solar lights now. Whilst very worthy, solar lights are no good if you actually want a pathway lighting up. These are great once you've mastered how to put them together. It all looks a bit hit and miss, but works well.

Prompt delivery, i have installed the lights and they look great, a bit fiddly at first to install but once you have the hang of it, they assemble quite easily.Ihad a issue with 2 of the lights, i emailed the seller to explain and he sent me 2 replacements the same day, excellent service.

This current product looks very similar but isn't quite as good in a few respects
About 20 years ago I purchased a very similar product which had worked well until the lights eventually started breaking up and the transformer failed. This current product looks very similar but isn't quite as good in a few respects. For example each light connection is made by pressing spikes into the cable where it just rests and hopes to make a secure connection. The previous lights had a secure screw fitting for keeping the connection tight.Time will tell if the new version lasts as long without problems. I would have willingly paid a little extra for the same system as previously.Comes in kit form and is a bit fiddly to snap everything together but after assembling a few lights it does become a lot easier. The transformer has to be kept dry, eg indoors, so an 18 mm hole has to be drilled through the wall, or some other arrangement, to pass the cable through. None of this should pose any problems to anyone with basic DIY skills.Gives sufficient light to illuminate a path etc and cheap to run. I have the transformer on a time switch so it comes on and goes off as I require.

Very poor quality
Recently bought two packs of these to fit in a customers garden, I’m an electrician and I feel the quality of the product was terrible. They was easy enough to put together but was very flimsy and the bulbs and bulbs holders was terrible quality, I spent half the time trying to get the bulbs to fit in resulting in me dropping and breaking some. My wholesaler who I use regular then said they have never seen a bulb like it before. Hate to leave a bad review but I was fuming working on the job and poor quality is poor quality I’m afraid.

If your fed up with Solar Lights.....
Arriaved earlier than expected. Spoke to seller before purchase and got a quick and helpful response with support to ensure a seamless install. These feel far sturdier than solar lights and I don't understand the comments complaining about weak spikes. They are robust enough but to be safe I used a trowel to soften the beds first. I do agree its fiddly to pierce the cable with the pins in the light fittings but peserverance pays off. Really pleased with the results. I would say brightness is about as bright as a solar light but far more reliable

A Few Problems!!
When the box arrived the Items had not been packed correctly, Had to contact supplier to arrange replacements of items damaged and missing. The supplier did send replacements quickly, when setting up, the transformer was faulty, this had to be replaced with a NEW unit. When switched on some bulbs shown dimly , these bulbs had to be replaced by the items recently supplied that had been damaged, When switched on again the lights are not very bright, had to replace more bulbs, thus shinning fairly bright in the dark. The lights are not brilliant, some what disappointing with the products brilliance. Would have chosen differently!! would in the future when addressing friends?? Regards Michael Clarke.

Great set of lights - fiddly set-up
I bought these to replace a similar set I'd had for about 15 years and finally packed up. They are a bit fiddly to set up as some of the bulb holders had become twisted in transit and needed to be squeezed and adjusted to ensure a good connection. Another thing to check if some of the lights don't work at first is to make sure that the wire has been completely pierced by the connectors. Also, I had one bulb with a broken filament in my set, so another thing worth checking. Bear in mind when laying out the cable in your garden that you need to allow a length twice as long as the stem of the light at each position as it is looped inside the post.Admittedly it was a bit frustrating to get the final couple of bulbs working, but worth persevering. They are so much better than solar lights, that cease to function north of the border after September! If they last as long as my previous set of low voltage lights, I will be very happy.
