Power Breathe Fitness Plus for Shortness of Breathe

Great for training the lung muscles. Works the inspiration and expiration muscles as well as the diaphragm. Great way to warm up the muscles and lungs before doing any hard exercise (do not have the feeling of gasping for air and feeling sometimes uncomfortable and catching your breath when your without it. Highly recommend for marginal gains if your at the top of your sport (if not, getting larger gains and helping you feel comfortable without breathing too hard starting exercise). Good luck!

Good piece of kit but overpriced I feel......lot of supplementary hype comes with it.

I had the Classic one years ago and found it very beneficial when I did a lot of distance running but unfortunately lost the mouthpiece. I recently purchased the Powerbreathe Plus Medium Resistance and not only find it much easier to use and clean than the older model was, but am now able to see more accurately what resistance level I am using. This is extemely useful information for keeping a track of my progress as I now have a serious lung condition and the Powerbreathe is forming part of my rehabilitation programme towards assesment for a lung transplant. I would recommend this as both a sports and a medical aid to improve breathing and lung capacity (where possible). I paid the same price for this model as I did for my origainal one back in 1999 so was glad that it hadn't jumped up in price. Follow the advice and instructions in the leaflet and you won't overdo it to start off with, just like an exercise regime. Would definitely recommend this model of the Powerbreathe.

I thought and still do think that the power breathers are a bit expensive for what they are having said that I have to say that I found it excellent for sport to increase efficiency of breathing and in general I personally think it has decreased my anxiety by encourageing deep lung breathing. I havent progressed much up the scale (the power breathes have adjusteable resistance ) but I seem to get benefit with low resistance and this doesn't seem to improve for me with higher resistance so I don't see much point in moving up the scale. I would recommend the powerbreathe fitness plus but would wonder if you need to buy a different model with higher resistance or indeed have to move up the scale on the fitness plus model.

Believe made in Britain but no English instructions. Therefore not easy to use.

I've just had pneumonia complicated with very bad asthma, I use the peek flow meter to keep an eye on how poor my breathing is, anyway, I thought I would try this product after noticing it on a website and reading a bit about it, I mean it's not really expensive so I thought I'd give it a go. I found that for me I needed to start on level 1 and used twice a day for a week, at the end of my first week I found that I started the week reading 420 litres of air per minute and by friday reached 490. I will keep using this and hope to really expand my lungs and open my breathing up, it's a great start. Something's working right?

I bought this as I have asthma occasionally and my lungs never feel very effective. I thought this was probably just a gimmick but it really seems to work. It is very simple to use and easy to rinse through with water to clean. Early days yet but I notice an improvement. I had the opportunity to try the 450quid electronic version and that is an amazing gadget but for 10% of the price this version is brilliant.

Having owned (and somehow lost) the original I was hoping that the "Plus" model of the Power Breathe was a significant improvement... I wasn't disappointed. Whilst the original seems like a bunch of random bits jammed together, this one is very well manufactured and has clearly had a lot of thought put into its design. However, it's not without some slight flaws. The tension control knob doesn't have a good feedback, and a couple of times when tightening it I've felt like I was going to break it. Also, I don't think the new mouthpiece is quite as comfortable as the old one, but I guess that comes down to individual preference. Overall, great product. Would recommend, even to owners of the original.
