Mila Guitars Acoustic-Electric Concert Koa Ukulele with Built-in Preamp

UPDATE: I received a lovely email from Skar Audio and they apologized and want to make amends. I realize things happen; my theory is that the bridge got dried out somehow. (The bridge has a similar design to some Kala's; the material happened to fail on the Koa.)It's a design flaw on an otherwise beautiful instrument, which they will address. I just had some bad luck.Backstory: I received two of these ukes and they both had cracked bridges. Skar audio and Amazon were both responsive in getting my refund. Initially I thought Skar was ignoring me, but in reality, they were going through tough times with major storms in Florida.Previous review:This is a beautiful, stylish instrument and the price point is amazing. One hitch: it arrived with a cracked bridge. Looks dried out.The tone is REALLY lovely and sweet. I haven't tried it on a speaker yet.It uses two 2032 watch batteries and they were included. There's also a battery check, which is a nice feature: no guessing if the batteries are done.This size and shape of the Uke feels really good. The neck is nice and thin, which makes for easier chording. Although it's laminated, it still looks good. (Note: the color tones differ from the photo, but that's to be expected. )The action is low, but with an intact bridge that may change. No buzzing. Bright sound and nice volume even without an amp.--------Thanks to Skar Audio for taking care of the issues. I am very pleased with them and apologize for my previous reaction. I hope Mila guitars continues to design stunning instruments for the Uke market. Once these issues are resolved, this will be a winner!

Overall impression:This is a very nice ukulele, ithe fit and finish is high and seems solidly built. The preamp works great.Cracked bridge piece:This ukulele came with a cracked bridge. That's a problem that could be come a lot worse over time and result in an expensive repair. I'd call is a design flaw as another reviewer had the same problem with two more ukes. This is more of a premium level uke and needs to be perfect. I'm getting a replacement.Wood color:It's also worth noting that mine was brown and did not have the blonde wood feature as shown in the picture. Wood is random, but I did hope for the blonde streak :)

Not only does this ukulele look good, it plays AMAZING. I've played on many other ukelele's before, and I normally don't take time to write reviews but I had to on this one because it's just fantastic. 10/10.
