Good book about the man who would be president.
I was impressed that so much is packed in here at user 200 pages of print. The book was released in the early stages of the horrific Trump presidency but a Biden presidential campaign was presented as a hypothetical question towards the end and of course it happened. You really get great insight into the kind of guy Joe Biden is. I was impressed.

Biden and Wilser make a winning team.
I purchased this based on the strength of Wilser's "Alexander Hamilton's Guide to Life," and I was not disappointed (if you haven't bought/read the Hamilton book, you should go do that now). I knew little about Biden prior to reading "The Book of Joe," and now he's legitimately one of the public figures I most admire. This book will make you laugh, move you to tears, and then inspire to live your best life, oftentimes in the same chapter. Often books about political figures can be hard to get through as they get bogged down in details, but that's not the case here. The complicated Supreme Court confirmation process Biden managed is brought to life in dramatic detail, and Wilser's style encourages you to keep reading even when the subject matter is a heart-breaking accident. Give this a read to discover just why Biden was beloved on both sides of the aisle, or to remind yourself that there are still some politicians left worthy of your admiration.

I didn’t know - what I didn’t know
I do not watch television or the news. I’m a Hulu watcher mainly General Hospital and Gray’s anatomy. News focuses on all the negative and not the good things people do.I bought this book for my 28 year old son for Christmas. He lives in DC and wanted to go see Joe Biden speak. Venue was not selling tickets of one so he missed out. Instead I bought him two kindle books on Biden. My son hasn’t read the book but my mom logged into our kindle account and loved the book; so I decided to read it.Now I am another Joe Biden admirer. I’m trying to instill in my adult sons, “You ain’t no better than anybody else. Nobody is better than you, but you ain’t no better than anybody else.” I loved that his mother told Joe that.

A Wonderful (and Fun!) Read
I love this genre of "pop memoirs"! Fact-based books that also make you chuckle ... biographies that feel relatable ... memoirs that are written with wit. Alexander Hamilton's Guide to Life, also by Jeff Wilser, was a delight in all of these ways. The Book of Joe delivers the same winning combination. A very enjoyable read! Also, I learned more than I expected to. To be honest, I was surprised at how much of Biden's story I didn't know. I consider myself pretty well-informed, but still had missed certain parts of his story in the press coverage of his over the years. The stories Wilser relays are great - some were really funny and two made me cry. And, I got the sense that Biden has grown through the years, sometimes in public ways, and that was interesting to think about. It's a wonderful, affirming read!

Irish charm
Interesting and very personal book about Joe Biden. Showing his private plane to a troop of Boy Scouts (even though they didn't vote) and working in the summer to earn money to help pay tuition for a private school because he wanted a better education, help us get to know the Joe Biden better. He's a good man, and he'll be a great president.

An intimate and relatable portrait of Joe Biden
I'm not sure I can say enough great things about this book. It offers such an intimate yet relatable portrait of a man we've come to love, Joe,Biden. The things Joe has been through give him my utmost respect. I had no idea about his first wife and the tradegy that befell him and his family before his start in the senate. There is also much more to the story of "hot young Biden" than we probably thought. This book makes me want to be best friends with Jeff and Joe and eat all the ice cream. The overarching moral of the story: Just get back up. I can't wait to discover what more there is to learn about Joe in the coming years.

A Delightful Insight
You want to know about Joe Biden? His flaws? His great strengths? His joys and deep tragedies? His humor, memes, and gaffes? His romance with, Jill, his wife? And his bromance with a certain President? You can do little better than read this book. And get “Promises to Keep”. You will value this man. (And I say this having just voted for Bernie in the primaries.)

Inspirational!
I read quite a lot and found this to be the best book I've read in a long time. Full of history that I wasn't aware of (or had forgotten...), humor, pathos, and inspiration. Joe Biden seems to be unique amongst Washington politicians-- Clearly a Democrat but able and happy to work across the aisle to do what's RIGHT. He has and continues to serve his country and his beliefs, not himself. And that is an unfortunate rarity today. I simply loved this telling of his story!
