Excellent HDMI to Displayport adapter
I bought this BENFEI adapter and it works brilliantly on 4K video converting HDMI from a DVR to the DisplayPort that the monitor required so, needing another I bought a second one of the same make, which was discounted and looked different. Strangely the other one did not work at all on the monitor I wanted to use it with so, to check it was not dead I swapped it with this and, hey presto, it worked. When I plugged the 'faulty' one into the other monitor it worked too. This has a wider flatter black box, and the other has a grey box. If buying again I would pay the extra £3 or so for this black flat version rather than buy another one of the grey discounted version.

OK with 2560x1440 Refresh 60Hz - on Linux Manjaro laptop.
My Dell U2722D monitor failed for the third time in 3 months. The the last two with "No HDMI signal from your device". I bought this to tide me over till I decide how to get my money back. This device plugs into the HDMI socket on laptop, power from a high output USB power source and outputs to a female Display port (DP) into which is plugged a DP lead which goes to the monitor. It works perfectly with colours as expected. However, I do not know if it would cope with a higher refresh rate than 60Hz at 2560x1440 which is the highest that this monitor which has a great display will go to. It seems fine with photos and movie DVDs at this setting. I have not tried with the USB power output from laptop which according to the website may not supply enough power. I hope this helps someone. (EDIT: It is a black one not grey, it just looked grey with its plastic cover.. There is no sign of it getting hot as some people have reported.) EDIT: I accidently ran it with the power supply turned off and it worked fine at resolution mentioned above, presumably getting power from HDMI socket. Probably better not to risk doing this in the longer run.

Lucky find at the price. (Millions of adapters which only work in the opposite direction)
Fantastic - plenty 'DisplayPort to HDMI' adapters (millions) for sale everywhere, but it is VERY difficult to find one which works in the OPPOSITE direction. (I.E HDMI = output). I am able to connect my ASUS motherboard (onboard video) which ONLY has a HDMI output to my ASUS PG278Q monitor. Very lucky find for the price. Other vendors are taking advantage of the difficulty in finding these and charging RIDICULOUS prices. I spent hours scouring ebay/amazon and many other retailers. I actually bet you £20 you won't find a cheaper one which works lol. (seriously though) :-) The only downside with this adapter is I've noticed that if I use the power button under the bottom/front of the screen to turn it off; when I switch it back on using the same button I get no picture. (You need to either disconnect and reconnect the adapter or unplug and replug the monitor from the Wall). This is more of an inconvenience than anything and I'm not sure what causes it. (It might be something to do with a non-standard frequency being used I.E something other than 60hz or 120hz etc due to the adapter being "active" - maybe it isn't detected). However, power cycling always results in it working perfectly again until you need to switch off. (I've found myself leaving the screen on overnight sometimes due to laziness because of the inconvenience).

Seamless PS4 to Monitor Connection.
The product does exactly what you need it to: connects an HDMI output to a DP monitor input - provided a USB power source is at hand. In the case of connecting a PS4 that's not a problem. Everything works as it should. The only downside is the price for this type of connector. DP to HDMI connectors are far cheaper and numerous. This is one of the more reasonably priced options and I'd recommend on that basis. Misses a 5 star rating because of the price, though.

Doesn't work, blank screen on all monitors including ones not using this product.
Well I thought I would go and try a couple of these due to they are cheap and that I had already used up 2 Display Ports on my Graphics Card leaving only 2 HDMI 2.0b Ports, so thought this product would convert from the HDMI 2.0b Port to Display Port so that I can connect my other 2 Monitors to these. Sadly when connected to one of the HDMI 2.0b ports on my Graphics Card, USB cable connected to a USB Power Adapter and connected a Display Port 2.1 Cable between this product and one of my Monitors and got blank screens on all my 4 Monitors, so it locked up my PC. I was lucky due to it just locked my PC up, it could have been worse, anyhow I quickly powered off my PC at the power socket and removed the product and reconnected its HDMI cables and all working again. This product does not work and I would have like to given a -5 stars due to possible damage, sadly Amazon only allows a minimum of 1 stars.

Plug and play
I realised I'd made a mistake with my wiring, and needed an HDMI to Display Port cable. Turns out you need something more sophisticated than that, like one of these active adapters. When it arrived I plugged it in to HDMI and to a free USB port (on a PC), connected up the DP cable to the monitor and it works without any effort, or perceivable difference in display quality. I'm just running standard 1900 monitors at 60Hz so wasn't expecting any problems. It's a shame these adapters are a lot more expensive than a simple cable, but I guess it's not as simple as just joining the right pins when you go HDMI -> DP. Either way, it works well and has solved the issue I had.

Nintendo Switch - Audio Doesn't work video was fine.
Bought this so I could run my Switch on my Samsung G7 1440p Monitor. Got it all set up and video worked fine but there was no audio. Tried different settings on the switch and monitor but nothing. Fortunately I switched it with the device that was using my only HDMI port on the monitor so that's now running HDMI to Display Port. That seems to be fine and audio is working that way. Can only give 3 stars as this doesn't work with every device.

Excellent little adapter that does exactly what it claims to do.
I bought this HDMI to DisplayPort adapter for my grandson, because he had broken the HDMI socket on his gaming monitor, which he uses with his PS4. It arrived very quickly and worked flawlessly as soon as he plugged it in, much to his relief, as a result he was back gaming again in no time. It is worth pointing out that the USB plug must be plugged in to a USB socket, as presumably this is where the hardware draws its power from, it will definitely not work without it being plugged in. Having said that he reports that the picture quality is excellent, latency is good and he hasn't noticed anything detrimental to his gaming experiences. All in all this little adapter saved an expensive repair, or complete scrapping, of a very expensive gaming monitor so it comes highly recommended by me.
