Well made and sounds beautiful.
An excellent guitar at a really good price.I am happier with this guitar than I expected to be; when played it sounds beautiful. (It could even be competition for my Rickenbacker; but having said that I am not too sure if it is that good!)Not long after I received it, I put a set of new strings on and my only (slightly) negative comment on this is, why on this guitar have Gibson changed the direction the strings go through the bridge; and what possible benefit could this bring?Because of this it took longer than usual to put new strings on, and I needed to use a really skinny set of plyers to pull the end of each old string out.

1) the neck is really nice comfortable and the satin lacquer make it very playable ...
This is a very low priced Gibson and it has minor issues. The important things for me:1) the neck is really nice comfortable and the satin lacquer make it very playable great rosewood fingerboard and the frets are nicely set up (pleced) with no buzzes2) the tuners seem fine to me and holding tune is not a problem they are smooth and have a good ratio3) the body is also fine it's light the paint is not up to Les Paul standard level but this guitar is 8 times less expensive!4) pickups are good5) the BAD bits - the wrap around tailpiece is not great - most seem to have a problem with the fact it tilts - to me this is not an issue, the problem is getting it low enough to make the action good - I have 3 Gibson's with this tailpiece and they all had the same problem the threaded posts would not screw down low enough - I remedied this by removing them, cleaning the paint out of the top of the lugs and ensuring the posts screw down fully - then the action can be made perfect - it only takes 30 minutes and the difference is amazing! The other issue is the 3 way pickup selector switch - it is faulty on one of my guitars (intermittent) and I have not got round to looking at it yet - but its a few £ to replace so no big deal - it may just need adjusting? So 4 out of 5 - if it had been perfect it would be 5 - It's a good little guitar, lots of fun and you won't lose any money on it as the second hand value should hold pretty well. For a nitro finished, 2 pickup USA made Gibson its a bargain!

Looks fabulous
The guitar itself looks fabulous. Like other reviews the paintwork is very thin. Unfortunately within 30min of he guitar arriving, and without a note being played, it is back in the box due to scuff marks and black indentations on 2 locations on the guitar. Thus disappointing and eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new guitar to hear how it plays

Punk rock electric guitar
Excellent guitar. Bought this as an alternative to the Les Paul Junior when gigging. The sound through an Orange Dual Terror is amazing. My only issues with the guitar is the tailpiece which is not friendly when changing strings. This was overcome by purchasing an Epiphone tailpiece which doesn't effect the set up. The matt finish isn't an issue but having been a paint sprayer i'd have been gutted to have sold something with the orange peel finish the guitar has. The volume pod isn't in the best position for my style of playing but I'm not going to lose any sleep over that. This is a cheap quality Gibson product that is easily customed to suit the owner's needs. I love it and will gladly purchase another for the sheer fun of it.

Perfect for a punk guitar!
Pros -Great price for a GibsonSuper light, doesn't cause back ache after playing like a regular sized LPPlays great once it has a good setupPickups sound great, very hot, they are perfect for distortion. I put some pickup covers on mine, makes the whole guitar look ten times better.Love that it comes with a bridge you can intonate (most LP/SG Juniors don't have these as standard)Cons -Had some static problems... When you rub the body it causes a crackling sound. This subsides with use.The 'out of the box' setup was not the usual Gibson standard, I had to lower the action quite a bit.The finish is not the usual Gibson standard, its got an orange peel look. Conclusion -I like my guitars to look used, so the less than perfect finish doesn't bother me. I'm a dab hand at setting up guitars so the bad setup wasn't a problem. The static noise was an inconvenience. But all in all I am stoked with the purchase. Its got the big sound you'd expect from a Gibson and its looks ace!!

Brilliant for the price
Yes, the guitar is made by Gibson but no, it is not a custom or studio grade of instrument - but at just over £300 what can anyone expect? I watched a number of YouTube videos about the Gibson Melody Maker and I carefully read the comments and feedbacks on Amazon before taking the plunge and buying the guitar and these probably say pretty well everything but I'll add my two pennies-worth.I expected to find that the action would need to be reduced but this was not the case; it played beautifully right out of the box. I also feared that the coating of the lacquer to be so thin that it would look a bit like an old orange peel but this also proved to be wrong. Okay so yes, the instrument is thinly lacquered but it looks absolutely fine.A £330 Gibson? I am very happy thank you.

Amazing for the price
Nothing negative I can say about this. Amazing quality instrument, just as you would expect from Gibson.I got this as a second guitar, to use at home, so I don't need to take my other Gibson out of the case all the time I want to play. Its solid wood body feels great without being too heavy.

Don't expect a Les Paul and you won't be disappointed. It plays ok
Don't expect a Les Paul and you won't be disappointed. It plays ok . The build quality not good.My opinion spend the extra and by an SG special.
