Would this be suitable for scuba diving?

Used one for a hundred plus dives, attached to the strap of my dive computer, it provides a quick direction check and easily resolves any short term disorientation in low light. If you are looking to swim on an exact bearing use a console mounted compass, if you just need to know you’re going in the right direction or where the reef, land or boat is, this will do fine. Used mine today under Swanage Pier for just that purpose.

It works but doesn’t necessarily point in the right direction. Changes direction when I open the door. Save your money.

Is this northern hemisphere version?

The 'NH' at the end of the name indicates that it is.

How strong is the clip? I would want to use it skydiving?

Not that strong. I fixed mine to a velcro wrist band for scuba diving
