Love this book!
I so glad I decided to start this series! Such a unique premise with Libby being a time-crosser and living in two different time periods and having a hard decision to make to pick which time period to stay in forever on her 21st birthday. I think what will stick with me the most is the overarching theme of trusting in God. How His plans are always for our good, even if we can’t imagine it with what life throws at us. This was shown in such a perfect way in this book. And the historical details made me feel like I was in 1774 and 1914. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Amazing Story!!
I don't even know what to say about this book, except to say Download NOW! Purchase it today!! You will thank me later. @gabrielle_meyer is a new to me author, and I listened via Audible. The story is about a young woman who time crosses and lives in two different time paths. This book is unique and original with characters that I loved from the beginning. The narrator did an amazing job. I listened while I drove around town and cleaned the house. I kept finding things to clean so I could listen to one more chapter. Yall, my house is spring cleaned in February. When I finished the book, I immediately downloaded the second book and still found things to clean. Or reclean again. Such is life, and it makes life more fun with a great book to listen to.

Time Travel - Historical Fiction
4 Stars ✨“Only God is in control of our destiny. He alone is sovereign. When we try to control the people and events around us, we are telling Him He doesn’t know what’s best for us. We’re setting ourselves up as our own gods, elevating ourselves above Him. It’s a dangerous game”Libby has a gift which allows her to live in duel timelines 1774 Virginia and 1914 New York. Each night when she goes to sleep she will live her whole other life the next day and pick up where she left off in the opposite. In 1774 she lives in hardship with the family she adores. In that same time is the love of her life. In 1914, she lives with wealth and status with her loving father and overbearing mother who tries to control everything. On Libbys 21 birthday- she must decide which timeline to live in indefinitely. The choice may seem simple… but will she choose the right path that God has in store for her?I’m not usually a fan of time travel books, but I thought this one was fantastic. The author did so much between the pages. She somehow spun a tale rich with history, duel timelines- with faith intertwined. Libby was a lovable character, and was focused on only doing and following Gods will for her life. She faces lots of trials but finds a way to overcome them all. The relationship she had with her mother in 1774 was so sweet and I really enjoyed reading those chapters. The ending had such a surprise I can’t wait to start the next one! Would recommend !** ⚠️ includes marital rape - but is not detailed only implied and handled very tactfully.

This was a first timeslip book I have read and it had me captivated! I loved reading about life in the different eras and how she had to prepare to leave one family behind. Very well-written!

I couldn't put it down
I hate series books. H A T E them. HOWEVER, this one is changing my mind. First sold point - it is a clean romance. Second, it has Christian themes. Don't hate on me, but it gave me When Calls the Heart vibes with these two points, and that Hallmark series is gold to me. Next, there is time travel, so my nerdy self is intrigued. With that in mind, you get the opportunity to learn about TWO time periods. It was like a 2 for 1 historical fiction novel. Score. I have since read the next two in the series and can't wait for the 4th to come out in November.

So enjoyable
What an interesting, well-written book that just pulled you in. But if you have trouble eith the concept of God you might react and not see the book holistically.

BEST BOOK I'VE READ THIS YEAR!!!
When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer is the BEST book ever! I was immediately captivated by the idea of Libby’s time travel abilities. Yes, I stayed up two nights in a row well past midnight to devour this amazing and unique Historical Romance. There is so much to love about this story. My most favorite aspect is it is such a good conversation starter. I had several excellent conversations with my husband and daughter about different historical periods, what it would be like to live two timelines at the same time, the danger of potentially changing history, and how we would feel if we got trapped in a time period we didn’t want. I even talked about this book at work. We teachers had such a fun time thinking about what we would do if we were placed in two time periods, and I might have been inspired to brainstorm a creative writing assignment for future students. Oh my goodness, I had some seriously fun discussions! This book would make an outstanding book club selection. In addition to the conversations I had, I also enjoyed seeing two BIG periods in history juxtaposed. It astounds me just how true Ecclesiastes is: there truly is nothing new under the sun. People are divided, people fight, and people survive. It seems to be a cycle we just can’t help but repeat. This is another book I highlighted like crazy. Meyer makes many excellent observations about the human condition, freedom, choice, family, and God. Meyer’s discussion on God’s providence is one of my favorites. It is so easy to get caught up in self and forget about God. It’s so easy to think that we know what is the right and good choice to make every time. We says things like, “This is the good, right choice to make because it will benefit this other person. How could God not want that?” Then we act on what we think is good and right…and then often things don’t go as we planned. And then we get mad. And then maybe we blame God. The truth is God is a BIG-picture God and we are SMALL-picture beings. We cannot see everything. We cannot predict everything. We have to give our hearts to God and trust that He does, ideed, have good plans for us, plans that give us a future and hope. The way Meyer illustrates God’s mighty providence in her story is AMAZING. I cried tears of joy! This book is SO, SO good, and God is, too! When the Day Comes is a perfect story. I highly, highly recommend this book. If you are in the mood for a unique and creative storyline, if you are a fan of time travel stories, or if you just love some seriously good writing then you have to get a copy of this novel ASAP. This is a 5-STAR novel at its finest, and you do not want to miss out!I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Amazon.com on October 14, 2022, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Could Not Get By The First Couple of Chapters
The plot is pretty convoluted. It was just too unbelievable to keep my interest. Too bad, I was looking forward to reading it. I’m quite surprised at the number of positive reviews but to each her own I guess.

5+ stars!! I had this book wrong! And I’m glad!!!
5+ stars - Read/own the paperback.I’ll begin this five-star review in an odd fashion so bear with me. I had no interest in this book when it came out. It had a fantasy/sci-fi vibe with the time travel aspect so I had no plans to read it. People were raving about it though but we all have different tastes, right? Then book 2 came out and the Timeless fan club was bigger and louder. They were all pounding the beat to READ THIS SERIES. Some pointedly told me that they were SURE I’d enjoy it. I saw reviews from people whose opinions I valued. So I gave in and a few days after the release of Book 2, I ordered books 1 & 2 for Mother’s Day 2023. And then they sat on my shelf….Fast forward to October. I finally couldn’t take it anymore. I was reading things from others that made me question my assumptions even more. I saw things that really intrigued me. Plus the author is just such a nice person and I enjoy her posts on social media.I finally pulled Book 1 out on Oct. 07th in the evening and I was done by 1a.m. on the 10th. And I fully admit that ‘they’ were all correct! It wasn’t at all what I thought and it was easily one of my top reads of 2023. I believe the author said something about these books being more about two historical periods than dual-time or time travel and that’s exactly it. And I like how she called it “time-crossing” as it wasn’t sci-fi-like at all. Things aren’t always what they seem and that’s a message in the book as well! The juxtaposition of colonial Williamsburg, VA only two years prior to 1776, along with New York City and London, England in 1914, was fascinating. In one you see Americans want to be free from the British no matter the cost, and the other is about Americans wanting to have English titles, nobility, power, and riches. Integrity and honesty be damned.Libby is a woman of respect and virtue. Helping others is her life’s mission. She gives all she has in the causes she believes in with both time periods. She treats people with such kindness. She loves her family, friends, and community. She knows who she loves and wants as a husband. She commits to him even amongst great uncertainty of her 1774 life. She knows which path she would ultimately & permanently choose on her 21st birthday over a year away. However, life is never simple or a straight line. Times that by two!! Unexpected trials AND gifts are a part of life and sometimes it is hard to see or understand. Her 1914 life has a difficult mother and everything is more difficult and tense. Yet there are moments of great joy and triumph as well. Choosing isn’t as simple as she once believed it was. Circumstances can change things. She relies on the Lord, even through very dark times, to learn about freedom and love. God can work all things for good and they sometimes come up in surprising ways! (Insert silent screaming and cheering near the end—at 1:00 a.m. while my household was sleeping!).This fiction novel has a strong faith element which I love. It has twists and turns. While you suspect some of them, you don’t quite know for sure. There are so many possibilities. You can’t foresee all the details along the way—or the consequences. The ultimate message of this book is reliance on God no matter your circumstances. In His time, He can do so much more than we can even imagine. I was happy to be wrong about my initial take on this book and I humbly apologize for assuming. I am excited to read book 2. Book 3 is out in May 2024 and book 4 is being worked on. Both will be auto purchases!Below are 3 favourite quotes. I left the fourth out because it would be a major spoiler (middle of page 295) .—————-Quotes:“So much of how we transported information from one person to the next in the colonies was painstakingly slow and arduous. Parliament used this to their advantage, trying to keep the colonies as separate as possible, knowing that if we united as one force, we would be difficult to control. If we were fighting amongst ourselves, better still.” (Pg. 65)“What makes us different from anyone else? Why must we not pay a cost for freedom? Is it everyone else’s job to sacrifice so that we can enjoy the benefits of their payment? Nay. Freedom isn’t free, Libby. The price is far greater than anyone realizes.” (Pg. 214)“Freedom isn’t stagnant or guaranteed. It lives and breathes and must be defended constantly. Don’t take it for granted. Fight for it, both in the public and private spheres of your life. And always look for ways to help… That is one of our greatest purposes upon this earth. To be helpers.” (Pg. 311)

God's Plans
When The Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer is a perfectly charming dual timeline novel that I adored. It is the first book in the Timeless series and I cannot wait for more. The novel is set In Williamsburg in 1774 and also in New York City in 1914 and then Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. Both time periods are similar but different. In 1774 America teeters on the edge of the War of Independence from Britain, wanting to take back control. In 1914 Britain is braced for World War I. Also, women are fighting as suffragettes for their independence and the right to vote.In both time periods the leading lady is a strong character, fighting for what she believes is right. Even as a woman she knows that her life counts. “My life was not meaningless. God had an expected end in mind.”We can trust God has a plan for our lives, even when we think our plan is better! We see just part of the puzzle. God sees the whole picture. “I will choose to trust God.”Sometimes it feels as if we are imprisoned by our circumstances. “My surroundings were lovely, but I was not free to fly beyond its confines.” A gilded palace can be as much a prison as a jail cell itself, if lives are held captive by another. When we feel bitterness or anger, we imprison ourselves. “Do not let anger or bitterness take root in you.” God wants us to surrender our feelings to Him, rest in His arms and live free. “Being in the centre of God’s will was where I wanted to remain.” We will never live in freedom if we do not live in God’s love and trust His will for our lives. He really does know best. When Jesus went to the cross, He died for each and everyone of us. His was a sacrificial love. We see many instances of sacrificial love played out within the novel. All the characters were delightfully drawn, realistic and likable. Their faith and capacity to love were heartwarming. When The Day Comes was a beautiful story. I cannot wait for the next book in this wonderful series.
