Exactly what I wanted.
This is my first Cajon and I did not want to dig to deep. I've recently returned to drumming and didn't know much about Cajons. I read a few reviews on here, watched some youtube clips and Meinl seemed the best option.Base tone is pretty reasonable and snare is adjustable to personal preference.I did modify the top left corner of the tappa to create more of a slap sound and I am now really pleased with it.I recommend looking on youtube to see how to modify as I did. All you need is a screwdriver and a couple of bit of card. No woodwork skills needed. Good for the price, though I wouldn't spend more for what is basically a wooden box. If you don't need a Cajon immediately there is lot's of advice out there on how to make one.

Value for money
Great product and works really well. I researched these a lot before buying and the consensus was that you don't have to get a really expensive one when this is just as good. Sounds great, very sturdy and my husband loves it.

good solid buy
Never played or had one of these but fancied having a go for a couple of years. This was a reasonable price, delivery was quick and once I got it out of the box I was very pleased with the build quality, it's robust but comfortable and quite addictive. I have yet to play around with the snare and slap adjustments as it arrived set up and playable. I have some rudimentary percussive skills and this is a great fun way to develop them.I was a little wary having never played a Cajon, and not knowing what to look for I took a chance, but in reality Meinl are a quality company and I shouldn't have been worried. Fancy having a go? Know someone who might like to have a go? Its good value and good quality, can't day fairer than that. Only thing it missed was some instructions, how to make adjustments etc and perhaps a short intro DVD, it wouldn't have taken much but as there's loads online to watch its no big problem. Have fun.

disappointed.
Spent a fair amount to get a decent sounding cajon, however I don't think it sounds like a quality product. Fairly disappointed

Useful addition to drum kit
Our youngest grandson is a keen drummer, and is very pleased with this extra bit of kit. It is quite ingenious.

Fun for all the family!
Really pleased with this drum box - no assembly, sounds great and looks good. Easy for anyone to sit down and have a go but I recommend a few YouTube tutorials if you're a beginner to get the best sounds out of it.

Excellent Value Cahon - just watch your hard floors
This cahon is well-constructed and very solid - there's not a hint of any movement when you sit on it. The snares (two of them) are easy to adjust with the allen key, which is stored in a hole inside the instrument. Because there is a snare down each half of the front panel, you can have a slightly different snare sound on each side. The bass is nice and deep, and the rim sound is very nice - on mine a little better on the top-right than the top-left.If you've never played a cahon, but can tap out a rhythm on your thighs or a table top, you'll take to it very quickly. There are some excellent tutorials online too.The only thing that stopped me giving this five stars is that the black rubber feet left marks on my wooden floor which were quite difficult to remove. I have solved this by using some of those round felt furniture feet pads. The large ones are about the same diameter as the rubber feet, and this has stopped the issue completely. It has the added benefit that I can move the cahon around the floor more easily as it now slides!
