Great budget fishing rod
This is a great rod for the money. I’m glad they upgraded the guides material. The last Lightning Rod I bought had stainless steel guide rings that felt like too much friction. My only negative so far was that Amazon simply shipped the rod loosely inside a long square approx. 4ft x 5in box. The 2 rod pieces were taped together but just rattling around inside the box. I carefully checked the entire blank, guides, and even used the atop trick to check & make sure none of the guide inserts had been cracked. I would not want an expensive rod shipped this way!

Best value rod
In my opinion this is the rod to buy if you need a two piece rod under $100 cad. I have the 7ft medium and it’s perfect. Casts great and has good sensitivity. I have to say that this rod feels a bit lighter than a medium (less powerful). I have tried casting lures up to 3/4oz and it worked great.- my rod came with a bent first guide. It was pushed way down. I was able to easily bend it back.- this rod will break if you abuse it. Don’t put 20lb+ braid with zero drag. I think 10lb line is perfect for this rod.

Decent rod for the money!!
I bought this rod simply because I couldn't say no to the price tag. $40 rod for $27, sold! Its a decent Medium Power/Moderate-Moderate Fast action rod for the money. If you can handle the rod in person, its better to do so. The fast action rods seem to handle like a broomstick (yuck). This one handles much better. Compared to my higher dollar rods ($120+), this one is like I said, decent. I take off one star from the rating, simply because the first guide isn't on straight with the handle/tip (guides on tip are all straight). Due to the fact that the rod still cast the rated lure weights EXTREMELY well (1/4oz to 20yds+ as measured by tape measure), that's a truly redeeming quality so it earns that star back. The line on the reel still manages to spool back on straight during retrieve too. The rod balances well with several of my baitcast reels (BPS ProQualifier 2, Calcutta 51/101XT ).Just practicing in the back yard, I have REEFED on the rod when the lure (yes that's right, i practice with a real lure) wraps around some stout branches and pulls line of my reel (with maxed out drag at over 12lbs) and the rod simply flexes like its supposed to (even when whipping the tip too). The rod just smiles and waves... If there is a tree near-by, I am guaranteed to snag it. I am extremely please to know that, at least the rod I received, can take some serious abuse at my hand and not have to worry about breaking it any time soon! So, overall, I am very pleased with my purchase of the Berkley Lightning Rod (6'6" Med/Mod). This goes great with my 8'0" UL Berkley Lightning Rod (in spinning and casting). I would gladly buy this again!!!

AWESOME DURABLE ROD!! I HAVE BEEN TREATING THIS THING LIKE IT'S MADE OUT OF STEEL AND IT'S STILL HANGING IN THERE!!! IT'S NOT THAT SENSITIVE THOUGH BUT THE CASTABILITY AND THE BUILT IT'S GREAT, VERY CONFORTABLE CORK HANDLE GRIP.I COMPARE IT TO THE UGLY STIK BUT ONLY BETTER.
