Practice Guidelines for Family Nurse Practitioners

I used this book throughout my entire Family Nurse Practitioner program, and it proved to be an invaluable resource. Whether I was writing papers or preparing for exams, it consistently supported me by presenting information in a clear, concise, and easily digestible manner. I highly recommend this book for students in training, as well as for those new to practice. Even experienced practitioners will find it to be an excellent reference for refreshing their knowledge of standards of care and treatment plans. It is a resource that truly grows with you throughout your professional journey.

Must have for newby.

This is a great book for new FNPs, and NP Students!

I love this book. I use it and the updated version all the time. It has a wealth of knowledge. It’s a great refresher for things you may not see frequently.

This has been my favorite resource while in school. Great, clear info. The only complaint I have is the spiral binding is pretty terrible. My book is falling apart. I recommend taking it to Staples or FedEx when you get it to get better binding!

Great book, the binding doesn’t hold up well

I love how simplified and straight to the point the plan of care are...including clinical pearls, which ones to watch out for, emergent vs urgent, referral tips, etc. I wish I've heard about this book prior to my clinicals. Now that Im working in a Primary Care clinic, this tool has been one of my go-to on instances that I need to refresh my NP stuff and more so, the current practice in primary care clinic. A MUST FOR NEW NPs out there :)

I just bought this book as I am transitioning from ortho to family practice. I started reading through it and I am really liking it. It has things laid out by body system as well as peds specific conditions, and lab/diagnostic pearls. It has recommendations on when to repeat labs, when to refer routinely versus urgently, preferred meds, etc. This is a great resource for family practice! Highly recommend!

The content of Practice Guidelines for Family Nurse Practitioners (6th Edition) is excellent—clear, relevant, and incredibly helpful for NP students and practicing FNPs alike. However, I’m really disappointed with the physical quality of the book I received. Despite being brand new, it arrived with visible tears and damage on the spine. The spiral binding also feels flimsy and doesn’t hold up well for a book that’s meant to be used frequently in clinical or academic settings. For the price, I expected much better durability. Would I recommend it? Yes—for the content. But I hope the publisher reconsiders the binding and packaging for future editions.

I liked the content of the book. I hated that the book cover on the back fell off within less than three months of light use. Wished I had not wasted my money on this product though. Paper that it is printed on is flimsy and does not support the big price tag that this cost. The rings for binding open too widely and then the holes that they go through loosen and tear. Unable to use this book as intended. It is a waste of money because I cannot take it to my clinic. has to remain stationary to be of any use. SAD SAD SAD.
