Great utilitarian glasses for the snow/beach
I got these for the snow and just wore them for 2 days of snowshoeing. If you want good quality, no-nonsense glasses for a very bright environment (i.e. snow/beach) at a good price, look no further. I don't think you can get any sunglasses that are significantly better quality than these at any price. You'll only pay more for style and brand.Note that these are not polarized.Pros:- Good lenses without distortion.- Dark lenses - good for the snow/beach or other very bright environments.- Nicely but not excessively rubberized, so that they stay on and don't feel cold.- They wrap around your head nicely and don't let much light in from the side, and protect your eyes from the wind.- Large lenses which don't reduce your field of vision.- Very comfortable on my large head (58 cm hat band).- Great price.Cons:- They are pretty large, definitely more utilitarian than stylish. Nobody is going to come up to you saying "oh wow man where did you get these". Nope.- From the outside, these are mirrors, at least in bright light. That can be a bit obnoxious to others.

Julbo Tensing, great lens but worth it to spend more if actually mountaineering
I have these and see a lot of them at Camp Muir on Mt. Rainier. I'll explain here why I upgraded to the more expensive Julbo Explorer. The Tensing lens is big and phenomenal, dark but crystal clear, perfect for high altitude and snow conditions. But, they are low cost due to the frame, and that is where I have issues. The lightweight temple is connected via snap-in plastic, not a steel screw, so friction not adjustable. The fatal flaw for me is that the stiff and wide plastic temple does not fit well under a hat. If it's bright enough for these glasses, then you will need a hat too. Therefore, I used these once to climb to base camp at 10k feet, but upgraded to the more expensive Julbo Explorer because those have thinner, bendable wire temples that go under a hat. Also, with the Tensing you have the hidden costs of buying a leash and a hard case, as it comes with neither, but more expensive glasses usually include both. I hope this helps out anybody shopping for climbing gear, cheers.

The best thing for light sensitive eyes
I'd give these ten stars if I could. The Spectron 4 lens is very dark (5% light transmission). The frames completely enclose your eyes, blocking reflected sun and wind, but they're still light and comfortable. I'm blue-eyed and nearsighted and must wear hard contact lenses so my eyes are extremely light sensitive. I'm used to squinting even with sunglasses, but that's all over. These are the best sunglasses I have ever owned. They seem durable (flexing rather than breaking), the venting works for me (no fogging issues) and the lenses curve enough that I lose very little peripheral vision. Style-wise they look remarkably good considering they're virtually googles. Of course if you're not blessed with a fat head like I am there's probably no avoiding the bug-eyed look. The one negative is they don't come with any extras. To keep the price so low, all you get are the glasses and a drawstring bag that doubles as a lens cloth. A lanyard or retention strap would have been nice because nothing after market will fit the unusual temple design. That said, these sunglasses are an outstanding value. I highly recommend them.

CHEAP!
I would not trust the flimsy construction of these sunglasses driving down the freeway, let alone the mountain top. I am not a big fan of the Oakley look... I was hoping for something unique from these with the French mountaineering pedigree that Julbo purportedly has.Cheap, but not good cheap like the $12.00 pair of Gas Station sunglasses that you have had for a decade. Cheap like they were cheap with you! I would NEVER buy a product from this company again. I ordered a pair of Oakley and Smith Optics and sent these back.

Does not work well with hat
Pretty good quality for $40. They are large and don't fit well on my face, (I'm 5'11", 170lbs), very wide extending well beyond the width of my head. There is a considerable gap at the top, which permits light from high angles. The glasses fit tightly over my ears, but instead of contouring downward they go straight (like aviator glasses). Ordinarily this would not pose a problem, but the straight ear pieces interfere with any hat that I wear, especially my hardhat. They either have to ride under the hat (uncomfortable)or on top, which loosens their grip often causing the glasses to fall off my face. Had I known this, I definitely would not have bought them. Consider this carefully before you purchase!Lenses are very dark, too dark for low light conditions. They excel at cutting direct sunlight, and cause no eye strain during extended periods of wear.

Some image distortion but good peripheral and darkness level
The lens impairs my vision. If I look at distant objects with and without the glasses, the glasses clearly cause some distortion. I purchased the glasses in order to reduce the discomfort caused by flashing sunlight while driving. The is especially jittery/staccato after the leaves are off the trees and the sun is lower in the sky and the sunlight comes through the passing tree trunks. The good part about the glasses is they have good peripheral vision and the light reduction is just about right for driving. (I doubt that they would be sufficient if I were on a glacier ... as I have been in the past.) Net, when the light is bad, I tollerate the distortion in order to reduce the flickering light problem.

I like em
I just got these glasses today and they are exactly what i expected , I have very light sensitive eyes and these glasses do a great job for me, and most importantly , my wife really likes the way they look on me. this is the second pair of julbo glasses i have purchased , the first pair were the sherpa , i have had them about 2 years and they are still in great condition. i agree with the view about the lenses , if you have a small or skinny face they might be abit large , but for me they are perfect.for the price , the quality of these glasses cant be beat .
