Bit pricey but the detail is amazing! No ragrets!
The pictures already included above are accurate. The length is about 10 inches or so long, once assembled. If you want LIGHTING ability, there is some functionality built in, but most go with a second, separate kit for that. So keep that in mind if you want to go ALL OUT on it.Detail level is incredible, ... par for the course for Bandai. The gun barrels are INDIVIDUALLY assembled in this kit, and some of those barrels are VERY thin. If you are not careful when detaching from the sprue, you could break the barrel (and they dont include extra's). On mine, the ones that were REALLY delicate were the secondary 3-barrel guns near the Command Island/Tower. Of the 6 total, 3 are broken. Sucks, but there it is. HIGHLY recommend that you read the pictures (unless you can also speak Japanese) to get a REALLY good insight to the sub-component modules assembly prior to actually doing the assembly. This kit is completely Snap-Fit, and the fit is TIGHT. I still used glue, because I wanted this ship to actually be able to be a Battleship, tough and durable (even though no need, display only kind of thing, in case I ever move in the future). The fins, launch arms, engine end-cap, and 3rd bridge are what I'd recommend using some glue with. Other than that, you can use it for the rest but you really don't need it.Overall, great kit, and VERY time consuming. No adjustments to the mold were needed to get the parts to fit together. Tight snap fit. I do not have any regrets in my purchase of this model. Also - It's 1/1000 scale, which is in line with Polar Light's series of Star Trek models. So if you want to display a diverse Space Navy, one in scale to each other, it's a great addition.

Great kit!
Bandai does not disappoint. Their updated Yamato kit is very detailed. Just a warning, this is a complicated kit with a lot of parts for its size. Although the instructions are in Japanese, the pictures and diagrams are easy to understand. If worst comes to worst, look for the various build videos available on youtube or other video services. You can also use google translate to photograph the instructions and translate it.

Nice model. Make sure you have tweezers. Does NOT come with lighting unit
Unlike the Andromeda, the light unit is sold separate. Sure, there are 2 LED stations that you can manually turn on, HOWEVER, you have to take apart the top half of the ship just to turn them on. That's where the LED unit to activate the lights without having to take apart the model comes in. Other than that, it took me a good solid week to build this. The most tedious part of building this thing was putting all the tiny cannons on it. You'll need a steady hand and sometimes a few drops of plastic cement because the turrets don't really stay on firmly. Overall, it's a decent representation off the Yamato. I just wish the lighting unit wasn't sold separately.

Finely detailed kit.
I'm currently working on assembling this pretty lady. After 2 hours, my progress is steady. I've decided to build it without the electronic components since the batteries and some kind of central processing device is not included and I can't read the instructions to know how to order it. It's a very well done model otherwise. The diagrams are simple enough to follow.

Hope you know Japanese, and additional $ to get rest of parts
This was a disappointing model. It comes with some of the lights, but you also have to purchase an extra $35 battery pack. The instruction manual is solely in Japanese and there is no translation. I was extremely disappointed, especially since this model reminded me of fine childhood cartoons.
