Would probably work well with cast iron with thick handles but not normal every day pans

These are great for covering the stainless steel handles on pots, skillets, and lids. And yes there are still pots with metal handles. So these are a nifty item to have and less cumbersome then using pot holders or mittens to protect your hands.
